After Twitter Ban, President Trump Says He’s In Talks With Other Social Media Companies — Or Could Launch His Own

President Donald Trump revealed that he is in talks with other social media companies or could even create his own in the wake of Twitter’s move to permanently ban him from using the platform for allegedly “inciting violence” after the Capitol Hill breach which he had no direct control of.

“As I have been saying for a long time, Twitter has gone further and further in banning free speech, and tonight, Twitter employees have coordinated with the Democrats and the Radical Left in removing my account from their platform, to silence me — and YOU, the 75,000,000 great patriots who voted for me,” the incumbent Republican president said in a tweet, which has also since been deleted by Twitter.

President Trump tweeted using the official government account @Potus instead of his personal @ReadDonaldTrump — which has been suspended from the platform. He was also blocked indefinitely from posting on Facebook and Instagram.

“Twitter may be a private company,” he added, noting that “without the government’s gift of Section 230 they would not exist for long.”

President Trump went on to say that he has long predicted the action of the platform as conservatives has long accused the social media sites of “censoring” conservative voices while favoring liberals in the platform.

“We have been negotiating with various other sites, and will have a big announcement soon … while we also look at the possibilities of building our own platform in the near future,” he added.

Finally, he accused Twitter of curtailing free speech in the country by moderating the kind of content it allows on its platform — based on its own determination. While taking down mostly-conservative accounts earlier, critics said Twitter has allowed liberals to take “free-reign” on the social media despite anti-Semitic tweets, and misleading claims about the Russian collusion hoax, among others.

“We will not be silenced!” President Trump wrote.

“Twitter is not about FREE SPEECH. They are all about promoting a Radical Left platform where some of the most vicious people in the world are allowed to speak freely,” he added, in an obvious reference to Iran’s  Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s uncensored Twitter posts questioning Holocaust, and issuing threats to Israel and the US.

“Why is it a crime to raise doubts about the Holocaust?” Khamenei said back in October. “Why should anyone who writes about such doubts be imprisoned while insulting the Prophet (pbuh) is allowed?”

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey explained that time that the platform does not “have a policy against misinformation, we have a policy against misinformation in three categories” including manipulating media, specifically coded public health topics like COVID-19, and election interference and voter suppression. However, it has censored posts by various media, like the New York Post article on Joe Biden family’s business and political connections to China.

Earlier today, Twitter confirmed it has permanently banned the sitting US President from the platform — the first time ever that a head of state is removed from social media.

“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter announced.

Twitter also bans Flynn, Powell — Limbaugh leaves

Despite the growing criticism from conservatives of censorship and other Republican personalities likening the self-policing being done by Twitter to “Acts of Communism” that doesn’t exist in the free world, Twitter went on to blacklist some other personalities tied to the President including General  Michael Flynn and Sidney Powell.

The Hill reported that according to a Twitter spokesperson the accounts were banned due to their connections to the QAnon movement.

“We’ve been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behavior that has the potential to lead to offline harm, and given the renewed potential for violence surrounding this type of behavior in the coming days, we will permanently suspend accounts that are solely dedicated to sharing QAnon content,” the spokesperson reportedly said.

Meanwhile, conservative political commentator and radio personality, Rush Limbaugh, also reportedly deleted his Twitter account shortly after President Trump was banned from the platform on Friday night.

A Twitter spokesperson told both CNN and Fox News that whoever was controlling the account — which has more than half a million followers — has deactivated it.

“A Twitter spokesperson tells me the company did not suspend Rush Limbaugh’s account. In other words, it appears Limbaugh (or someone acting on his behalf) deactivated it,” a CNN reporter wrote.

“Twitter SPOX: ‘I would like to correct that He is not suspended. The user deactivated their account,’” Fox News said separately.
