AOC, however, believes that the bill, which is designed to provide financial relief to Americans, does not do enough to assist non-resident aliens.
Under the stimulus law, non-resident aliens with federal tax IDs are not eligible for direct payments of $1,200. These non-resident aliens are classified as people who currently reside in the United States to work, but are not permanent residents. Ocasio-Cortez criticized President Trump, claiming without evidence that the administration is holding the American citizen hostage in order to assist various corporations.
