Biden Admin To Start Removing All Senate Confirmed US Attorneys Appointed Under Trump
The Joe Biden administration is reportedly working to begin removing US attorneys across the country that has been confirmed by the Senate during the previous administration under former President Donald Trump.
The Justice Department told US attorneys appointed by the former Republican President to submit their resignations effective February 28 during a conference call with acting Attorney General Monty Wilkinson, CNN reported citing Justice officials “familiar with the matter.”
“The resignation request applies to 56 Senate-confirmed US attorneys appointed by Trump,” it said, adding that“Justice officials have scheduled a call with US attorneys around the country to discuss a transition that is expected to take weeks.”
Multiple reports said on the contrary, acting US attorneys who were not confirmed by the Senate could remain in their posts until the time that the appointees of Democratic President Biden are approved by the Senate.
Nonetheless, acting Attorney General Monty Wilkinson reportedly asked Delaware US Attorney David Weiss to remain in office, while overseeing the tax probe against Hunter Biden, the president’s son.
John Durham, who was reinvestigating the origins of the Democrat-led Trump-Russia collusion probe, was reportedly asked to also continue his turf but is expected to hand in his resignation as US attorney in Connecticut.
Durham was earlier appointed as special counsel by former Attorney General William Barr to get into the bottom of the Russia hoax after special counsel Robert Mueller found “no proof” that the former President colluded with Russia or whether he obstructed justice in doing so.
Meanwhile, despite the mainstream media’s attempt to bury the Hunter Biden issue before the election, the now-presidential son admitted in December that he was indeed a subject of a grand jury investigation.
At that time, various publications said authorities were looking into multiple financial issues hounding Hunter, including whether or not he “violated tax and money laundering laws in business dealings in foreign countries, principally China.”
The criminal investigation into Hunter Biden’s affairs reportedly began even before William Barr was appointed by former President Trump as Attorney General.
