Biden DHS Sec. Claims ‘No’ Crisis At Border, Administration Opened Two ‘Overflow Detention Facilities’

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was asked by a reporter if he believes now there is a ‘crisis’ at the U.S. border but his answer was no. The secretary thinks there is a challenge at the border that they are managing and have the ‘resources dedicated to managing it.’

The reporter also mentioned as reported by the Associated Press that Border Patrol agents are ‘apprehending an average of more than 200 children crossing the border without a parents per day’ and how Axios reported, “A Customer and Border Protection staffer told top administration officials…the agency is projecting a peak of 13,000 unaccompanied children crossing the border in May.”

When would this become a crisis at the border?

Biden is expected to meet virtually with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Monday as NY Post called it ‘amid a migrant crisis on the southern border.’

House Republicans warned DHS Sec. Mayorkas of Biden’s new immigration bill and policy changes in February and said, “The increasing number of [unaccompanied children] and family units illegally crossing the border will soon overwhelm border facilities in the middle of a global pandemic, forcing CBP officials to resort to widespread, rapid catch and release of unlawfully present individuals and families into the interior of the country.”

As The Biden White House denies the ‘kids in cages’ hypocrisy, last week NY Post reported, “on Monday the Department of Health and Human Services reopened a facility in Texas to house up to 700 migrants ages 13 to 17. A second facility in Florida also is being reopened.”

Psaki was pushed on the issue of ‘kids in cages’ but avoided to answer the issue and said the reopening of facilities to hold kids is because of COVID-19 and a need for spacing to ‘ensure the health and safety of these kids’

Former Obama’s DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson called the southern border in a ‘crisis’ state how on one day there was 4,000 apprehensions and stated, “I know that 1,000 [apprehensions] overwhelms the system and I cannot begin the imagine was 4,000 dat looks likes.”

The reporter brought up Jeh Johnson’s statement to ask Mayorkas about the current border situation, “How is this not a crisis?”
