Biden Gets Mocked Online For Revealing That He Uses Prepared List To Call On Reporters Again

When President Biden revealed at the start of his press conference in Geneva on Wednesday that he’d only be calling on reporters from a prepared list, he was criticized for “saying the quiet part out loud”

Following his expected meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Biden told the press, “I’ll take your questions, and as usual, folks, they gave me a list of the people I’m going to call on,” Observers questioned whether Biden was referring to his communication staff when he said “they”

Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., questioned, “How is this acceptable?”

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas special adviser for communications, Steve Guest, tweeted, “Embarrassing,”

The president “said the quiet part out loud.” according to social media users.

One user mocked, “He’s definitely going to get in trouble now; pudding privileges will be revoked for a whole week!”

Another commenter stated, “They won’t let him take questions from anyone other than Democrat activists in the media.”

Biden’s admission was compared to Putin’s previous news conference, which lasted over an hour and showed “no signs of stopping.” according to Fox News contributor Joe Concha.

For press appearances, Biden has often used pre-approved lists. The majority of the questions he received at his first official news conference as president in January were from reporters who had been pre-selected by his staff.

“A White House handler is calling on reporters by name and by outlet one-by-one to ask Biden a question, unlike Trump who called on reporters as the [spirit] moved him,” Real Clear News writer Philip Wegmann observed at the time, linking Biden to his predecessor.

Then, in March, Biden was spotted reading a “cheat sheet” which seemed to display the photographs and news outlets of journalists who attended his press conference, with some of their photographs having a circled number next to them.

The president has also been blasted for not giving more news conferences, a point White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki dismissed with the assertion that Biden “takes questions several times a week.” in an interview with CNN’s Brian Stelter. Psaki has reportedly acknowledged that she recommends Biden not to take impromptu questions.

Biden also had a ‘sharp exchange’ with a report, watch below:
