Biden Ignored Request To Leave Troops In Afghanistan From General Who Compared Trump Supporters To Nazis

In the run-up to the Taliban’s control this week,  Biden ignored Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Mark Milley’s demand to retain 2,500 US soldiers in Afghanistan, as well as Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s warnings about the nation’s security.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Biden was informed about many of the dangers of a full-scale US withdrawal from Afghanistan, including the possibility of the Taliban taking over the country, but went through with it regardless.

According to CNN’s Clarissa Ward, the situation outside Kabul airport is ‘extremely chaotic,’ with Taliban insurgents shouting at civilians and threatening them with firearms.

‘This was mayhem, this was nuts, this is impossible for an ordinary civilian – even if they have their paperwork – no way they’re running that gauntlet, no way they’re going to be able to navigate that. It’s very dicey, it’s very dangerous and it’s completely unpredictable,’ she stated.

‘To me it’s a miracle that more people haven’t been seriously, seriously hurt,’ Ward offered.

According to the Journal, Biden remained strong in his decision because he felt the US was propping up an Afghan government on life support, which the president characterized as corrupt and blamed for blowing billions of dollars of US aid.

Per the Journal, Biden and his advisors anticipated that once the US set a departure date, President Ashraf Ghani and the Afghan government would pull themselves together, but some military experts cautioned that Ghani wasn’t up to the job.

Milley comparing Trump supporters to Nazis

Milley, who has been widely ridiculed for being “woke,” tried to claim that Trump was preaching “the gospel of the Führer” when he challenged the 2020 election results, and that Trump had directly contributed the US to its own “Reichstag moment,” a reference to an event in 1933 that Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler used to consolidate political power in Germany.

According to New York Magazine:

“… the general’s worries grew rapidly as the president plunged the nation into chaos following Election Day. Seven days later, Milley got a call from “an old friend” with an explicit warning that Trump and his allies were trying to “overturn the government.” Milley was confident that any attempts by Trump to hold on to power would be thwarted, because the military wouldn’t go along. “They may try, but they’re not going to fucking succeed,” he told aides. “You can’t do this without the military. You can’t do this without the CIA and the FBI. We’re the guys with guns.”

According to the book, Milley reacted to the January 6 incident by stating, “These guys are Nazis, boogaloo boys, Proud Boys.

On the same day that Ghani left Afghanistan, the Taliban invaded Kabul.

Milley suggested that the United States should maintain a small combat force in the nation. When Biden took over the drawdown from previous President Donald Trump, there were about 2,500 US soldiers in Afghanistan. These are the same people we fought in World War II.”

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who previously served as the region’s military commander, stressed that a complete departure would not offer any guarantee of stability.

Biden had suggested that if Trump disobeyed the deal he struck with the Taliban, American troops and allies would be vulnerable to further violence.

Biden’s team was caught off guard by the Taliban’s rapid takeover of Afghanistan and underestimated the Afghan army’s ability to fight.

However, US intelligence agencies projected that Kabul would fall within 30 to 90 days, according to the Journal.

On July 8, Biden told reporters that the Afghan army could call on 300,000 troops, compared to the Taliban’s 75,000, and that the loss of Kabul was “not inevitable.”

Despite this, a steady stream of public evaluations questioned their means to fight, and by July, classified intelligence reports had become increasingly pessimistic about the government’s ability to maintain on to the capital, according to the New York Times.

The findings will raise new concerns about why Biden advocated for such a quick departure, and why his government was not better prepared to rescue Americans and Afghan personnel.

As the Taliban advanced in July, one report highlighted the increasing threat to Kabul and said that the government was preparing for a direct assault.

It anticipated a domino collapse as Afghan security forces broke, similar to what occurred last week.
