Biden Jokes About Getting A Disease, Resigning If “Fundamental Disagreement” Arises With Kamala Harris

Former Vice President Joe Biden told a recent news interview that he jibes with running mate, Senator Kamala Harris and has no “moral” disagreements with her in terms of their stand on issues and philosophy in politics.

Just like his relationship with his former boss, President Barack Obama, Biden said if ever they disagree on certain things, it’ll be “in private” — he said, however, that in case they’ll argue in the future, he will just joke about developing “some disease” and will “have to resign.”

No “moral” disagreements

“The thing we are simpatico on is our philosophy of government and simpatico on how we want to approach these issues that we’re facing,” Biden said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper where he appeared with Senator Harris.

“When we disagree, it’ll be just like — so far, it’s been just like when Barack and I did. It’s in private. She’ll say, ‘I think we should do A, B, C, or D,’ and I’ll say, ‘I like A, don’t like B and C. And let’s go, OK,’” the former VP said.

He continued: “And like I told Barack, if I reached something where there’s a fundamental disagreement we have based on a moral principle, I’ll develop some disease and say I have to resign.”

Biden maintained that they are on the same page in terms of policies and governance.

“We discussed at length our views on foreign policy, on domestic policy, on intelligence. And the great thing is she has a background in the Senate, on intelligence, the Intelligence Committee. She has a background in the Senate on a whole range of things that are going to be pertinent to what we have to do,” he said, as he went on to praise the lady senator.

Harris vs. Biden in the primaries

The friendliness between the two Democrats hasn’t always been like this.

When Biden and Harris faced each other as presidential candidates in the Democratic primary — Harris torched the former VP on his pro-segregation stance and his record on civil rights.

“I will direct this at vice president Biden, I do not believe you are a racist and I agree with you when you commit yourself to the importance of finding common ground, but I also believe and it’s personal and it was hurtful to hear you talk about the reputations of two United States senators who built their reputations and career on the segregation of race in this country,” Senator Harris said in one of the debates.

Aside from that, Harris has also slammed Biden for flip-flopping on his stand for the “Hyde Amendment” The California senator also clashed with the former VP on healthcare plans.

Senator Harris also said in the past that she “believes Biden’s accusers over sexual harassment claims.”

“I believe them, and I respect them for being able to tell their story and having the courage to do it,” Harris told reporters in April 2019, after Biden was accused by multiple women of inappropriate touching and kissing.

Political pawn of the left

This is not the first time that Biden appeared to be warming up to the idea of Senator Harris becoming the chief executive.

Back in September, the former VP made a gaffe when he referred to his ticket as “Harris-Biden” just days after his running mate, Senator Harris also made the same slip.

On her version of the slip, Harris, who also ran for president in the primary, referred to the Democratic ticket as the “ Harris administration, together with Joe Biden…”

The seemingly coordinated blunder between the two Democratic candidates had critics earlier reviving claims that Biden is a “political pawn of socialist Democrats” and merely a “placeholder” for the progressive Harris to be later sworn in as president.
