Bill Maher Slams “Woke” Liberals For Ruining Tokyo Olympics
HBO comedian Bill Maher criticized so-called “woke” cancel culture and those protesting cultural appropriation during the Olympics, claiming that the poisonous philosophy belongs in Stalin’s Russia.
The following were the top lines from Maher’s segment on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher”:
- “The opening ceremony director was fired hours before the event because they discovered a Holocaust joke in a comedy routine he did decades ago….” Why do we constantly let individuals who just want to b***h win? Days before that, the opening ceremonies musical director, musical director, was also fired when someone unearthed a 1994 interview in which he acknowledged to bullying peers as a kid. As a kid. Remember how your instructor used to attempt to terrify you by telling you that this would be on your permanent record? Yeah, it’s no longer a hollow threat.”
- “And the entire shebang of the entire Olympics got s**t canned because he once made a fat joke in a private conversation. This is known as a purging. It’s a mindset that belonged in Stalin’s Russia. How terrible does this environment have to go before those who say, ‘cancel culture is overdone,’ realize that it is, in reality, an insanity that is devouring the world?”
- “And that, my friends, is not a conservative stance. My politics haven’t changed, but I’m reacting to them, which is another another example of how the woke invert. That which used to make liberals liberals. That is not being liberal, snitches and b***hes. Isn’t the Associated Press a legitimate news organization? So why am I seeing the title, ‘Olympic surfing reveals whitewashed Native Hawaiian roots?’ Yes, surfing was included to the Olympics this year, which is a good thing since surfers deserve to be acknowledged as athletes. Sorry, I meant to say no, that is cultural appropriation. Cultural appropriation, I must add, is one of the stupidest crimes in the woke legal code. To begin with, there are 25,000 islands in the Pacific. What evidence do we have that a Hawaiian was the first to stand on a board in the water? It appears to be something that anyone in any ocean would ultimately get around to doing. And if you’re a surfer, it doesn’t matter if you’re black, white, or anywhere in between; sharks don’t discriminate.”
- “This new idea that each culture must remain in its own silo is neither better nor progress. In reality, it is tampering with one of the few concepts that still make this melting pot known as America wonderful. Not everything is about oppression and plundering indigenous people’s natural resources.”
