Black Lives Matter Claims America is ‘Stolen Land’ In Thanksgiving Tweet
Black Lives Matter created controversy with a Thanksgiving message in which they referred to America as “stolen land.”
On Thursday, BLM’s official Twitter account posted a tweet saying, “You are eating dry turkey and overcooked stuffing on stolen land.” The post included a graphic repeating the “stolen land” line.
“You are on stolen land. Colonization never ended, it just became normalized,” the graphic said, telling Americans to learn “which ancestral homeland” they are “currently occupying.”

The tweet received a lot of negative feedback on social media.

The Black Lives Matter movement, which advocates for the defunding of the police, has been a subject of contention for years.
Patrisse Cullors, a co-founder of BLM, announced her departure from the organization earlier this year, following an investigation into the group’s finances. Several mansions worth millions of dollars had been purchased by Cullors, bringing her into the public eye.
In July, the Black Lives Matter movement provoked outrage when it issued a statement that appeared to sympathize with Cuba’s communist authorities versus freedom-seeking protestors.
After initially posting the statement on Instagram, it was quickly shared on Twitter and retweeted by others. The statement blamed the country’s instability on the United States embargo and praised the Cuban government for previously offering sanctuary to “Black revolutionaries”
According to the statement, Cuba is being “punished by the U.S. government because the country has maintained its commitment to sovereignty and self-determination”. The organization asserted that Cuba has been an ally of “oppressed peoples of African descent” and hailed the country’s efforts to safeguard “black revolutionaries like Assata Shakur”.

Shakur, also known by the name JoAnne Chesimard, was found guilty of being an accomplice in the 1973 killing of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster, who was survived by his wife and 3-year-old son. Eventually, Shakur managed to escape jail and go to Cuba, where she was granted shelter by former Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
