‘Breastfeeding’ Is Canceled, British Hospitals To Use ‘Chestfeeding’ Instead
Hospitals in Great Britain gave their medical staff orders to stop using the terms ‘breastfeeding’ and ‘breastmilk’ and start using ‘chestfeeding’ and ‘human milk.’ A policy document on the Brighton and Sussex hospital system’s website states that “gender identity can be a source of oppression and health inequality,” referring to transgender patients.
“Terms like ‘chestfeeding’ and ‘human milk’ are being introduced at an NHS trust in a bid to boost inclusivity,” Bristol Live reports, “Staff have been asked to use gender-neutral language alongside – not instead of – traditional terms to ensure that all groups are represented.”
The Brighton and Sussex hospital system claims that the new policies are not intended to be misogynistic but “gender-additive.” However, disagreements within social justice circles have begun to appear. Some adherents are pointing out that the new language policies are harmful to women.
Today we are launching the UK’s first clinical and language guidelines supporting trans and non-binary birthing people.

Transgender activist Debbie Hayton told BBC, “Trying to control the language of others does transgender people no favors at all,” said Ms. Hayton. She added, “We should be living in society, not imposing upon it.”
