A British ISIS recruit nicknamed “Osama bin Bieber” was killed by ISIS for being a “spy.
Mohammed Ismail was allegedly radicalized by extremist clerics at a madrassa (Muslim religious school) in England when he was a teenager. In March 2014, Ismail left England with two of his friends to join ISIS in Syria.
Ismail was nicknamed “Osama bin Bieber” due to his boyish looks and young age that made him allegedly resemble Canadian pop star Justin Bieber.
In 2016, ISIS started to doubt Ismail’s loyalty following a drone strike in Raqqa, Syria. The drone strike killed Nasser Muthana, who was originally from Cardiff, Wales.
ISIS members then interrogated Ismail, who confessed to giving information about Muthana’s location to western intelligence agencies. ISIS recorded a video of Ismail apologizing for betraying the terrorist group. However, it was too late to say sorry, and Ismail was executed by ISIS.
