California Faces Backlash For Giving Coronavirus Relief Funding To Illegal Aliens, Here’s The Full Details

State budgets around the country are going to take major hits due to the Coronavirus pandemic. It is a situation most Americans understand. Tax revenue has drastically dropped as citizens were regulated to staying in their homes.

This loss in tax revenue will result not only in funding issues throughout the rest of 2020, but into 2021 as well, as businesses and employees will either file greatly reduced income taxes or remain unemployed.

California, the most populated state in the country, has long offered taxpayer-funded incentives to illegal immigrants. The state recently announced it would be opening up coronavirus relief funding to illegal immigrants.

Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom announced from the state capital in Sacramento that the state had freed up $75 million to help around 150,000 illegal immigrants who were facing hardships as they were not allowed to work.

Contrary to popular liberal belief, this $75 million doesn’t simply appear out of thin air. This money has to be shifted from somewhere else in the state budget. California is a state that heavily depends on tourism and international business. With both industries being decimated over the last several months, the state realistically cannot afford to take taxpayer money and hand it over to individuals who are not in the country legally.

The Center for American Liberty filed a lawsuit against the state government, stating that the money it is moving isn’t coming out of an open slush fund that can be used on just any project. The state already had a fixed budget which it already struggles to maintain on a regular basis, and now, with the significant reduction in revenue, shifting this kind of money elsewhere will not only go against the state budget the governor himself created earlier in the year, but it will rob U.S. citizens of the essential services they paid for.

It is estimated that around two million illegal immigrants currently reside in California, although an exact number is difficult to tally and is likely to be significantly greater. These illegal aliens are not eligible for federal stimulus, despite a current push from socialists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez give them federal taxpayer money.

California is not only planning on spending $75 million in taxpayer funds on illegal aliens, but it is looking to raise around $50 million in private donations.

California, much like many other states throughout the country, will be facing major budgetary issues in the coming months. States are struggling to stay up to date and pay the unemployment filings that have skyrocketed. Additionally, these numbers may increase within the next several months as businesses find they are unable to open due to the significant restraints placed on them.

Restaurants and other hospitality businesses that have seen a drastic drop in revenue will be forced to function often at a quarter or half capacity, which will not be enough to pay the bills. These are businesses that will need added funding to stay afloat. Despite this, California would rather turn its back on them and help out illegal immigrants living in the state.
