Chuck Schumer Strangely Compares Pro-Trump D.C. Protest To “Pearl Harbor” — Forgets Dems Recent History Of Supporting Left-Wing Protests
Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer slammed the unrest that ensued at Capitol Hill on Wednesday and despite a largely peaceful protest, he went on to compare the incident to the surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that led to World War II in 1941.
“President Franklin Roosevelt set a day aside that will live in infamy,” the Senate Minority Leader, who could become the next Majority Leader after the Georgia runoff said.
“Unfortunately, we can now add January 6, 2021, to that very short list of dates in American history that will live forever in infamy,” he added.

Congress met in a joint session yesterday to certify the Electoral College vote results and was reportedly delayed for six hours after supporters of President Donald Trump stormed Capitol Hill in protest to Joe Biden being declared the winner of the November 3 election.
Senator Schumer of New York issued an official statement about chaos in the nation’s capital earlier on Wednesday, blasting President Donald Trump and tagging him as “the worst” America has ever had.
The top Senate Democrat also described the standoff in the Capitol building — issuing a fiery, yet ironic condemnation to protesters after the multiple times that he’s backed demonstrations across the country.
“I have never lived through or even imagined an experience like the one we have just witnessed in this Capitol,” the top Senate Democrat said.
“This temple to democracy was desecrated, its windows smashed, our offices vandalized. The world saw Americans’ elected officials hurriedly ushered out because they were in harm’s way.”
“This will be a stain on our country not so easily washed away – the final, terrible, indelible legacy of the 45th president of the United States, undoubtedly our worst,” he added in a direct swipe to President Trump.
Schumer calls protesters “insurrectionists, goons, thugs, terrorists”
The Senate minority leader went on to call protesters “extremists” – the very same language that he used to condemn when spoken by President Trump in the past against rioters who would burn down properties, take down the flag, and engage in altercation with law enforcement.
“I want to be very clear: Those who performed these reprehensible acts cannot be called protesters – no, these were rioters and insurrectionists, goons and thugs, domestic terrorists. They do not represent America. They were a few thousand violent extremists,” he said.
Schumer said those that stormed the Capitol Hill “must and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law” and “provided no leniency” in contrast to the Democrats’ usual soft-stance on protests that advance their causes like the widespread BLM protests across the country.
His statements comparing the D.C. protest to the Pearl Harbor attack was met with skepticism on social media.

Despite condemning violence, Schumer himself is not innocent to firing threatening rhetorics — although often directed to President Trump and his associates.
Speaking to a reproductive-rights rally in front of the Supreme Court in March, Schumer addressed the two newest justices Neil McGill Gorsuch and Brett Michael Kavanaugh saying: “I want to tell you, Gorsuch; I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”
