Coronavirus: While President Trump Works For The American People, House Democrats Refuse To Come Back To Washington Next Week Because It’s “Too Dangerous”

Democrats have been quick to ridicule
President Trump for his response to the
Chinese virus pandemic.  Yet, the
president is one of the few politicians who has remained in Washington working
for the American people.

Given the current health
and financial crises surrounding not only the country but the world, it is now more
important than ever before for our elected officials in Congress to be in
Washington working for the American people.

Both the House of Representatives and the Senate were elected to lead during troubling, difficult times. Instead, they have remained at home. And while Americans around the country are suffering from sickness, layoffs, and bankruptcies, each member of Congress is still receiving his and her pay.

At a time when the
country needs our elected leaders, House Democrats have decided to extend their
current recess.  At the beginning of each Congressional calendar year, Congress schedules out several extended recess breaks. For
2020, both the House and the Senate were scheduled to go on recess from March
27th to April 20th
However, because of coronavirus health concerns, the end of recess was initially
pushed back until April 28th, and now it has been pushed back even further to May 4th.

According to Politico,
House Democrats are refusing to come back to Washington on May 4th,
calling the date “too dangerous.”

Politico reports that key Democrats “railed” against Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), when she reminded them that the House was due to gavel back into session May 4th, calling the date “too dangerous,” especially for the many elderly members of the House Democratic caucus.“Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) said returning next week would be ‘dangerous,’ according to multiple Democrats on the call,” Politico said Tuesday. “Other members also spoke up including Reps. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA.), Susan Wild (D-PA) and Veronica Escobar (D-TX), with some asking how they were expected to take care of their families — many without childcare at home — and return to Washington for an extended stay.”

President Trump and his administration’s COVID-19 task force have laid out specific guidelines for governors on how to safely reopen their respective states. Beginning on May 1st, states will be required to monitor the number of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths. After experiencing 14 consecutive days of decline, governors can then begin the first stage of the reopening process.

It is important to
point out that these policies are just are guidelines and states are not required
by law to follow them.

Yet while governors have
been working nonstop and have slowly started to reopen their respective states,
House Democrats want to stay at home for weeks and sit on their asses without
doing a thing except hurling insults at the president.

If states continue to
enforce their anti-work stay-at-home orders, workers and businesses will
require more federal funding in order to literally survive. The Democrat Governor of Michigan recently announced she’s is extending her
state’s hyper-restrictive stay-at-home orders until the middle of May.

Unfortunately, House
Democrats have no desire to come back to work to pass a bill to provide
American workers with more relief money to feed their families.

Again, it’s important
to remember that the House Democrats who say
it is “too dangerous” to return to work are still receiving a paycheck, funded
by you, the American taxpayer, despite choosing to not show up to work.

If Washington is safe enough for the President of the United States to continue working to earn his paycheck, which he completely donates to charitable causes every quarter, then it should be safe enough for House Democrats to return and perform their elected duties.
