D.C. Enacts Curfew As Trump Supporting Peaceful Protestors Storm US Capitol Hill Amid Electoral College Certification — Trump Calls For Law And Order

Washington D.C. will implement a citywide curfew starting 6:00 p.m. (local time) in response to reported clashes and breach of Capitol Hill after pro-Trump protesters attempted to enter the premises forcing evacuations on the day of Congress’ Joint Session to certify the Electoral College results.

Multiple videos of the incident were posted on social media which includes footage of stand-off between the protesters and law enforcement in Capitol Hill, breach of barricades, evacuation, and some reports of shooting as supporters of President Donald Trump gather for a mass demonstration in the nation’s capital to show their support to the Republican incumbent.

“BREAKING: Trump supporters have breached the Capitol building, tearing down 4 layers of security fencing and are attempting to occupy the building — fighting federal police who are overrun,” one tweet said.

Another one wrote: “Protesters are charging toward the Capitol steps. Some tried to scale the construction structures and have been tackled by police. They want to enter the building and are making attempts at intervals. Capitol police trying to hold them back.”

“Capitol police appear to be retreating as supporters of Donald Trump attempt to storm the Capitol building. They’ve already made it through several security barriers,” one said, adding that “police [are] attempting to hold the line, but they appear to be on the brink of being overrun. Clearly outnumbered and outmanned.”

Some pictures also showed protesters already inside the Capitol Hill building.

“There is now an armed standoff at the door of the House. Cops have their guns drawn and barricaded the door,” another one wrote.

“The Madison building on Capitol Hill is being evacuated, sources tell me & @sarahnferris,” one said. “No other details at this time, other than it’s being evacuated due to “police activity.”

Trump calls for law and order

Both President Trump and his son Donald Trump Jr., have publicly called out the chaos as thousands of his supporters march through the nation’s capital.

“This is wrong and not who we are. Be peaceful and use your 1st Amendment rights, but don’t start acting like the other side. We have a country to save and this doesn’t help anyone,” the younger Trump wrote.

In a series of tweets, President Trump called on his supporters to “remain peaceful.”

“Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!”

President Trump also issued a video sympathizing with the disappointment of his supporters but calling on them to head home “in peace.”

“We have an election that was stolen from us … but you have to go home now, we have to have peace. We have to have law and order, we have to respect our people in law and order. We don’t want people to get hurt

“This is a fraudulent election but we can’t play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace. I know how you feel but go home in peace.”
