Democrat Sen. Kyrsten Sinema Slams Biden On Border: ‘We All Know’ That ‘This Is A Crisis’

Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona slammed her fellow Democrat, President Joe Biden, for the country’s ongoing border crisis, asking him to “do more” to address the deteriorating situation that has flooded her state with illegal immigrants.

“So the reality is that this is a crisis. We all know it,” Sinema said on Thursday in an apparent swipe at the Biden administration’s refusal to call the US-Mexico situation a “crisis.”

“The federal government must do more to address this surge of migrants who are coming to the border with increasing numbers each year. And I’m like, you probably know this, but we’re looking at numbers this year that are the highest numbers of crossings that we’ve seen in 20 years in Arizona.”

“We really are seeing how this problem has been exacerbated and gotten worse,” the Democratic senator added, noting that she is waiting for Biden to “take bold steps” to resolve the issue, saying that border communities such as her own state cannot afford to just wait for officials to “sit around” and discuss ways to fix the border problem.

The Democratic lawmaker went on to lash at the administration for “dumping” migrants into communities in Arizona who have “nowhere to put them.”

“Literally the mayor is putting these folks in his vehicle and driving them to Tucson or Phoenix to get them to shelters,” Sinema said. “That’s not acceptable.”

Sinema’s remarks come as Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas, another Democrat, blasted the Biden administration this week after it posted photographs attempting to show the situation on the ground as “improving.”

He claimed that the Democratic administration was merely playing a “shell game,” defined as “a deceptive and evasive move or ploy, particularly a political one” by Oxford Languages.

“All they’re doing is moving kids from one tent to the other tent and saying oh, they’re out of Border Patrol custody but they’re next door, next door in the HHS (Department of Health and Human Services),” Cuellar said.

The Senator from Texas already earlier unloaded on President Biden for failing to talk about the spiraling border crisis during his first address before the joint Congress last week — despite it being the biggest issue facing his administration, so far.

“I did notice that the president did not talk about the border,” Cuellar said following Biden’s address. “There is a border crisis, no ifs about it. The numbers are still high.”

Other lawmakers also called out Biden for  failing to touch on the border crisis issue.

Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, another Democrat, also weighed in on the issue, and called out Biden — reiterating that the border situation is a “crisis” that needed more federal support to resolve.

“This continues to be a major problem that shouldn’t fall on the shoulders of Arizona communities. And I think it was important to highlight that it wasn’t part of the address last night,” Kelly said

“We’ve got to address this and it can’t be on Arizona taxpayers and Arizona towns that are really struggling right now. It’s a federal government problem,” he added.
