Democrat Tulsi Gabbard Takes Swipe At Biden: Border Crisis A ‘Direct Result Of Your Open-Border Policy’
Democrat Tulsi Gabbard blasted President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the worsening immigration crisis at the US-Mexico border.
The former Hawaii lawmaker, who also ran for president last year, slammed her fellow Democrats tagging them on her Twitter post Wednesday.
“The humanitarian and national security crisis on the southern border is the direct result of your open-border policy,” Gabbard said to both Biden and Harris.
“As I said in my 2020 presidential campaign, we can’t have a secure nation if we don’t secure our borders,” she added.

Gabbard’s tweet comes as Del Rio, Texas, has been swamped with over 10,000 illegal immigrants, mostly from Haiti, in recent days, and the Biden administration has been widely criticized for its slow response.
Once they started taking action, reports noted how a number of them started being violent — attacking American pilots and immigration authorities, as some Haitin illegal immigrants also took over a bus after learning they were being removed from the country.
Nonetheless, thousands of Haitian migrants who unlawfully entered the country were said to have been permitted into the US and given notices to appear or notifications to return to an immigration office to have their cases reviewed, casting doubt on claims by the Biden administration that they are truly executing “widespread expulsions.”
The Associated Press wrote: “Haitians have been freed on a ‘very, very large scale’ in recent days, according to one US official who put the figure in the thousands.”
“The official, who has direct knowledge of operations, was not authorized to discuss the matter Tuesday and spoke on condition of anonymity,” the publication added.
The report further noted that many of these illegal immigrants have been released into US communities with notices to appear at an immigration office in the next two months.
“A second US official, also with direct knowledge and speaking on the condition of anonymity, said large numbers of Haitians were being processed under immigration laws and not being placed on expulsion flights to Haiti that started Sunday,” AP said.
“The releases in the US were occurring despite the signaling of a massive effort to expel Haitians on flights to Haiti under pandemic-related authority that denies migrants an opportunity to seek asylum,” it added.
Despite this, the Biden administration has been posturing that the borders are not open to illegal immigrants.
“If you come to the United States illegally, you will be returned, your journey will not succeed, and you will be endangering your life and your family’s life,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said earlier this week.
But the AP maintained that “accounts of wide-scale releases – some observed at the Del Rio bus station by Associated Press journalists” were “at odds with statements a day earlier” from the DHS chief.
In 2019, former acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan informed the Senate Judiciary Committee that federal law enforcement officers usually had issues with migrants failing to show up to immigration authorities after receiving notices to appear.
In a letter to Senate leaders, Rodney Scott, the much respected head of the US Border Patrol who was driven out by Biden earlier this year, warned that Biden’s terrible border policies are damaging America’s borders and that bad actors are taking advantage of the situation.
“The Biden administration’s team at DHS is laser-focused on expediting the flow of migrants into the US and downplaying the significant vulnerability this creates for terrorists, narcotics smugglers, human traffickers, and even hostile nations to gain access to our homeland,” Scott said.
“In my professional assessment, the US Border Patrol is rapidly losing the situational awareness required to know who and what is entering our Homeland,” he added.
Scott said criminals are also exploiting the disastrous border situation.
“Low level, unsophisticated and uneducated smugglers are illegally crossing the border and increasingly evading apprehension daily,” Scott told senators. “To think that well-resourced terrorist networks, criminal organizations, and hostile nations are not doing the same is naive.”
