Democrats Take Advantage Of Texas Winter Storm, Board Leaders Of Texas’ Power Grid Resign

Democrats are looking into Texas’s recent winter storm devastation and have called for investigations into the Republicans’ handling of the crisis and pushing for the ‘Green New Deal’

Four board leaders of Texas’ power grid operator said Tuesday that they will resign following major outrage because of more than 4 million customers losing power during the deadly winter freeze.

AP reported, “The resignations are effective Wednesday, a day before Texas lawmakers are set to begin hearings over the outages in the state Capitol.”

Gov. Greg Abbot said, “We are ordering an investigation into ERCOT and immediate transparency by ERCOT.”

Sen. Chuck Schumer said, “Governor Abbott thought Texas could run an electrical grid that ignored the climate crisis. It was not resilient. The federal investigation by @FERC and @NERC_Official must look into how Governor Abbott’s policies in Texas have failed and exacerbated the winter storm crisis.”

Schumer also said reported by The Hill, “The bottom line is, Texas thought it could go at it alone and built a system that ignored climate change.”

Associates Press reported, “As temperatures plunged and snow and ice whipped the state, much of Texas’ power grid collapsed, followed by its water systems. Tens of millions huddled in frigid homes that slowly grew colder or fled for safety. And a prideful state, long suspicious of regulation and outside help, was left to seek aid from other states and humanitarian groups as many of its 29 million people grasped for survival.”

Beto O’ Rourke blamed Republicans by saying that Texas are suffering because of those in power.

Rourke wrote, “Texans are suffering without power because those in power have failed us. As with Covid, a natural disaster has become far deadlier due to the inaction & ineptitude of Abbott and Texas’ Republican leadership. This didn’t have to happen and doesn’t have to continue.”

Texas Democrats Press wrote, “Democrats are providing the bulk of volunteer relief aid to Texas households impacted by boil water notices/water shortages and/or those suffering from food insecurity as a result of the deadly winter storm that knocked out power and water for millions of Texans. Meanwhile, Texas Republicans abdicated their duties and either fled responsibility or fled the state physically.”
