DHS Blames Trump Admin. For ‘Physical Dangers’ From Halted Border Wall Construction By Biden Admin.

If the border wall was not stopped by the Biden Admin, there would not be ‘physical dangers’

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers confirmed that in support of Customs Border Protection border infrastructure program, it will be resuming a DHS-funded design and construction on about 14.4 miles of levee in the Rio Grande Valley.

DHS announced last month that they will be repairing breaches in the levee along the Rio Grande in southwestern Hidalgo County.

Reported in April, “South Texas officials told Border Report on Friday they have “a lot of concerns” after a conversation earlier this week with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials, who told him they can’t fix gaping breaches in the earthen border levee wall caused by border wall construction until the Department of Homeland Security approves the fixes,”

DHS announced at the of April they are taking, “initial steps to protect border communities from physical dangers resulting from the previous administration’s approach to border wall construction.”

The USACE also updated, “To be clear, wall construction remains paused to extent permitted by law. Per DHS, we’ve started critical work to repair the Rio Grande Valley’s flood levee, which was excavated to make way for border wall. This remediation work will not involve expanding border barrier.”

DHS tries to blame the Trump Administration even though the Biden Admin. halted the border wall from being completed.

DHS also announced on its website that its taking steps to protect border communities from “physical dangers resulting from the previous administration’s approach to border wall construction.”

“On his first day in office, President Biden issued a Proclamation terminating the redirection of funds diverted for border wall construction, pausing all wall construction to the extent permitted by law, and requiring Federal agencies to develop a plan for funds concerning the Southern Border wall,” DHS wrote in its release.

“As DHS continues to review the extensive problems created by the prior administration’s border wall construction and develop its plans, the department will take the following initial steps consistent with the President’s Proclamation to protect border communities:”

“Repair the Rio Grande Valley’s Flood Barrier System” and “Remediate Dangerous Soil Erosion in San Diego”

Bill Melguin who is a correspondent for Fox News reported on the resuming of the levee but mistakenly said border wall.

Fox News correspondent Bill Melguin wrote to Twitter, “@FoxNews has confirmed via the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that construction on a 13.4 mile stretch of border wall in the Rio Grande Valley will *RESUME* after pressure from local residents & politicians. The Biden admin previously halted all wall construction in Jan.”

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wrote, “In support of CBP’s border infrastructure program, USACE has resumed DHS-funded design & construction support on approx. 13.4 miles of levee in the Rio Grande Valley that were partially excavated or at various levels of construction when work on the wall was paused for review.”

Melugin responded right after the released statement from USACE, “The project involves construction/repairs that will resume on the border levee wall, which looks like this, as well as repairs to the levee system. Construction had halted leading to concerns about flooding during hurricane season.”
