Family of Heroic Firefighter Killed in Trump Rally Assassination Attempt Speaks Out (VIDEO)

The grieving family of Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old volunteer fire chief and true American hero, is speaking out one month after his tragic death at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Comperatore’s courage and selflessness were on full display as he gave his life to protect his daughters from a deranged shooter’s gunfire on July 13.

Corey was fatally shot by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, a criminal who sought to kill President Trump but instead claimed the life of a patriot. In his final moments, Corey shielded his daughters with his own body, sacrificing himself to ensure their safety. His wife, Helen, and daughters recently shared their heartbreak and enduring love for Corey with ABC News Pittsburgh affiliate WTAE.

“He was absolutely a hero,” Helen said with deep emotion. “He saved his wife and his child. He was the best man you could ever know.”

Helen also expressed the complexity of her emotions, acknowledging the situation that brought them to that fateful day. “I’m angry. My husband took a bullet for [Donald Trump],” she said, pausing to reflect on the weight of that reality. “That, unfortunately, was the plan that day.”

Corey’s daughter, Allyson, recounted the horrific moment when her father’s life was taken. “I was the one my dad threw down to protect,” she recalled. “As he was doing that, he was shot. He fell on top of me, and I couldn’t believe what was happening. I was just trying to take care of him, but in that instant, I lost my dad.”

Allyson’s voice trembled as she described her desperate attempts to save him. “I was holding a towel to his wound, screaming for anyone to help. But in my heart, I knew he was gone.”

Kaylee, Corey’s eldest daughter, reminded everyone that her father was much more than a tragic victim of that day. “He wasn’t just the guy who got shot at the rally,” she asserted. “He was a husband, a father, a son, an uncle. He was the glue that held our family together, our strength, and our everything. That’s what the world lost.”

In a horrifying twist, Crooks, who was perched atop a building 400 feet away, managed to graze President Trump’s ear in his failed assassination attempt. The 2024 Republican presidential nominee, in a powerful and emotional gesture at the Republican National Convention in July, honored Corey by kissing his firefighter gear on stage. Helen described this act by Trump as “a big honor,” a fitting tribute to the man who died protecting his family and his country.

Corey Comperatore’s bravery will not be forgotten, and his sacrifice stands as a testament to the values that true Americans hold dear—faith, family, and love for their country.
