“Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s has not seen a new therapeutic drug approved in nearly two decades, and there’s never been a disease-modifying therapy,” according to Promising Treatment.

Finding a treatment for Alzheimer’s requires urgency and resources, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) needs to be called on quickly but thoroughly review and act on symptomatic or disease-modifying Alzheimer’s treatments under consideration for approval.

When a drug is before the FDA, it should receive the greatest consideration that takes into account available scientific data and the preferences and lived experiences of patients and caregivers.
