Firearm Background Checks Climb To Record High In March As Biden Pushes For Gun Control
In the month of March, background checks for gun sales has climbed to an all-time record high as reports of President Biden threatening to increase federal gun regulations. In the same month, many American’s received their $1400 stimulus checks.
At the beginning of April, US News found from the FBI data that the bureau ‘conducted nearly 4.7 million background checks’ which broke the record high that was just set in the month of January 2021.
“March’s background checks represent a 36% increase from February, which saw about 3.44 million checks. Additionally, nearly 1 million more background checks took place last month than in March 2020,” the outlet found.
Donald Trump Jr. called out Biden gun control, “Biden wants to disarm law-abiding American citizens with unconstitutional gun control measures, but his son Hunter is allowed to break the law and lie on federal background check forms to get a gun with no consequences??? Seems fair.”

Donald Trump Jr. was responding to reports of Hunter Biden purchasing a .38-caliber revolver and lied on a form.
Politico reported, “POLITICO obtained copies of the Firearms Transaction Record and a receipt for the gun dated Oct. 12, 2018.”
“Hunter responded “no” to a question on the transaction record that asks, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” Five years earlier, he had been discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine, and he and family members have spoken about his history of drug use.”
“Lying on the form is a felony, though prosecutions for it are exceedingly rare.”
The FBI began keeping records of background checks since 1998 and the data, “has been a strong indicator of firearm sales as people looking to buy a gun from a federally licensed dealer must undergo a federal background check.”
Background checks increasing seem to correlate with threats of increased gun control and in the month of March, background checks climbed following the two mass shootings that occurred. The White House was quick to respond by pushing their gun control rhetoric.
“Of the top 10 days for most background checks, six were in March 2021, according to FBI data, including the top three days. Following deadly mass shootings in Atlanta and Boulder, Colorado, gun sales soared and five of the top days occurred following either one or both shootings,” the outlet reported.
