Former President Donald Trump Leaves Door Open For Possible 2024 Presidential Run
Former President Donald Trump is not closing his door on the possibility of running again in 2024, telling a Newsmax interview that he is currently ‘looking at poll numbers.’
Appearing on “Greg Kelly Reports,” the former Republican president also cited his strong base in the GOP — despite impeachment efforts against him by Democrats as he acknowledged liking the job as chief executive.
“You know you still command enormous attention, so I want to go back, again, look it’s a no brainer. You’re going to run for president in 2024 right? I mean you got all the support. Why wouldn’t you run?” host Greg Kelly asked Trump.
Instead of answering directly, however, the former president trumpeted the support he’s getting among Republicans, as he cited the many achievements of his administration.
“Well, we have tremendous support. I won’t say yet, but we have tremendous support, and I’m looking at poll numbers that are through the roof. You saw what happened yesterday when we went up again. I’m the only guy who gets impeached and my numbers go up. Figure that one out,” former president Trump said.
“Let’s say somebody gets impeached, typically, your numbers would go down. They would go down like a dead balloon. But the numbers are very good. They’re very high. I think they’re higher than they were before the election. And they were high at the election,” he added.

Trump’s remarks come as several recent polls suggest that the former president maintains a strong hold of the Republican Party — majority wanting him to either play a big role or remain a ‘role model’ for the GOP.
Most Republican voters would also leave the GOP for a new party founded by Trump as the former president earlier floated the idea of putting up his own political party to be called “Patriot’s Party” following an internal fallout with some top-ranking Republicans like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell over the Capitol Hill chaos on January 6.
“I like the job,” the 45th US President said.
“Look, we did a great job. We rebuilt our military. Think of it. We lowered taxes, got rid of regulations. How about the Space Force? Just space force alone would be a big achievement. First time in seventy four years, a new branch of the US military. So all of the things we’ve done,” Trump added.
The former president went on to praise how his administration “built the wall” along the US-Mexico border and lamented how the current Biden administration is handling the border issue.
Meanwhile, a recent latest Politico/Morning Consult survey also found that former president Trump is continuing to lead a hypothetically crowded Republican primary — with 53% support, with his former vice president Mike Pence trailing him with 12%. All other potential candidates like his son, Donald Trump Jr. and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley were tied for third place with 6% , while others also garnered single digit support.
