Horatio Sanz, a former cast member of the left-leaning comedy show Saturday Night Live, was accused of sexually abusing an adolescent fan in 2002.

A complaint has been filed against the comedian, alleging that he groomed and sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl named Jane Doe at a Saturday Night Live afterparty in May 2002.

According to a TMZ article, the complainant accuses Sanz of touching her and “digitally penetrating” her at the party while numerous NBC staffers were there.

According to the lawsuit, the alleged victim began “posting on numerous online venues, message boards, and chat rooms regarding SNL” when she was 14 years old, in 1999.

Sanz allegedly corresponded with Doe with one of his coworkers in January 2000, and then “began his process of grooming Plaintiff,” which included an in-person encounter in October 2000, following the show’s filming.

In 2001, the comedian is accused of conversing with the plaintiff on AOL Instant Messenger and steering the conversation to “discuss sex, sexual experiences, sexual activities, sexual fantasies, (and) masturbation,” as well as “solicit[ing] inappropriate photographs” of her.

Sanz allegedly sexually abused the 17-year-old girl during and after the SNL party in May 2002, according to the lawsuit, by “kissing her, groping her breasts, groping her buttocks, and digitally penetrating her genitals forcibly and without Plaintiff’s consent.”

In a statement obtained by CNN, Sanz’s attorney Andrew Brettler denied the allegations, calling them “categorically false.”

The lawsuit has asked for a jury trial in New York County Supreme Court, naming NBC Universal and SNL Studios as defendants, alleging that NBC and SNL “permitted and enabled” Sanz’s alleged grooming and assault of the plaintiff.

Lorne Michaels, the creator of Saturday Night Live, has yet to release a comment.
