GOP Lawmaker Demands AOC Apologize To Senator Ted Cruz Over For Claiming “You Almost Had Me Murdered 3 Weeks Ago”

Texas Rep. Chip Roy is demanding that progressive Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez issue an apology to fellow Texas lawmaker Rep. Ted Cruz for the baseless comments she made earlier this week of his supposed call to “murder” her.

The Republican lawmaker sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Thursday telling her that the fiery interaction between AOC and Cruz had “come to his attention” and he slammed the self-proclaimed Democratic socialist for her hypocrisy in condemning violence while also issuing a “scurrilous charge” against another member of Congress.

“It has come to my attention that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent out a tweet a few hours ago in which she accused Senator Ted Cruz, in essence, of attempted murder,” Rep. Roy wrote.

“As a member of this body who disagreed with ‘objections’ to the electors and who has expressed publicly my concerns about the events leading to January 6th, it is completely unacceptable behavior for a Member of Congress to make this kind of scurrilous charge against another member in the House or Senate for simply engaging in speech and debate regarding electors as they interpreted the Constitution,” he added.

“I ask you to call on her to immediately apologize and retract her comments.”

Both AOC and Senator Cruz were earlier among the lawmakers who condemned stock-trading app Robinhood for restricting its users from trading GameStop stocks— following a rocket surge mainly driven by day traders who coordinate on Reddit to drive up the share price of struggling companies in what is largely seen as a populist investment movement.

But while they both appear to favor a congressional action against the stock trading app, the New York lawmaker rejected Cruz publicly and told the Republican senator to “sit this one out,” claiming that he almost had her “murdered” three weeks ago — in reference to the January 6 chaos that ensued in Capitol Hill.

On January 6, Sen. Cruz joined other GOP lawmakers like Sen. Josh Hawley in objecting to the result of the Electoral College vote certifying Joe Biden as the 2020 presidential election winner, citing their Constitutional right to do so. Democratic critics claim, however, that their action led to the riot at the nation’s capital that same day.

“This is unacceptable. We now need to know more about @RobinhoodApp’s decision to block retail investors from purchasing stock while hedge funds are freely able to trade the stock as they see fit,” Ocasio-Cortez said following reports of Robinhood app’s trading restrictions to which Senator Cruz responded: “Fully agree.”

The Democratic superstar slammed Cruz, however, as she lamented the issue on the Capitol Hill riot. She has earlier called for the Republican lawmaker and all those who supported efforts to challenge the election results to resign.

“I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted in response.

“Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign,” she added.

The New York lawmaker  went on to lambast the senior Republican senator for what she claimed is his failure to “even apologize for the serious physical + mental harm you contributed to.”

“In the meantime, you can get off my timeline & stop clout-chasing. Thanks,” she added.

GOP blasts hypocrisy in Dems “unity” calls

In his letter to Pelosi, Roy said there would be other measures pursued if AOC fails to apologize for her rash and divisive claims.

“If Representative Ocasio-Cortez does not apologize immediately, we will be forced to find alternative means to condemn this regrettable statement,” the Texas lawmaker added.

“It is my sincere hope that we all stop this heightened rhetoric and move forward to actually do the work the American people sent us here to do.”

Meanwhile, other Republicans also condemned the strong but baseless remarks of the young progressive Democrat — as well as Twitter’s hypocrisy in hesitating to take action against her tweet which they said also amounts to “libel” and  “incitement of violence” against the senator.

The left-leaning social media earlier banned former President Donald Trump from its platform accusing him of “inciting violence” through his tweets.

“@tedcruz almost “murdered you?” Hey @JoeBiden, how’s that ‘United America’ thing working for you, bruh?” wrote Buzz Patterson, a Republican candidate for Congress.

Conservative Media Research Center (MRC) also slammed Twitter.

“A deranged Member of Congress accusing a US Senator of attempted murder? If Trump had lied like this, you would have shut him down,” MRC wrote. “@birdwatch @TwitterSafety — SUSPEND @AOC or prove your leftist bias. #SUSPENDAOC”]

‘Louder with Crowder’ host Steve Crowder commented: “I’m not saying this tweet is an attempt to incite violence against a sitting Senator. But a claim like that requires proof or it’s verifiable libel. You clearly see yourself as above the law.”

“@TwitterSafety I’d like to report this tweet. @AOC accusing a sitting senator of attempted murder…can we at least get a fact check? This type of accusation is not only subject to libel, it makes a lot of ppl feel unsafe. What if she’s inciting retaliation against @SenTedCruz?” said RedState editor-at-large Kira Davis.

“I support @tedcruz filing a lawsuit for this libel. I support Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to be investigated for incitement against Senator Cruz and irresponsibly spreading conspiracy and hateful rhetoric. This behavior should not be tolerated in Congress,” wrote author Chad Felix Greene.

Twitter said they have “no comment on this” according to Fox News.

Amid demands from the far-left for mass resignation of Republican lawmakers who disagreed with them regarding the certification of Biden’s win, Texas’ Ted Cruz insisted that the GOP lawmakers were only exercising their rights and doing their jobs.

“Leading a debate in the Senate on ensuring election integrity is doing our jobs, and it’s in no way responsible for the despicable terrorists who attacked the Capitol,” Cruz earlier responded to AOC, promising her and her “socialist buddies” that he “ain’t going anywhere.”
