Herschel Walker Considering Georgia Senate Run
Legendary football star Herschel Walker is reportedly considering running for the US Senate in Georgia to challenge socialist Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock in his re-election bid in 2022.
The former football legend and proud supporter of former President Donald Trump sent a signal on his potential run telling Fox Business’ Maria Bartimoro that he and his family have been praying and will be “thinking long and hard” about seeking public office — as the state recently faced backlash from progressives over its new election integrity law.

Walker said he will be taking his time before deciding but left some very encouraging words hinting towards eventually throwing his hat in the upcoming Senate race.
“I’m very honored that they would consider me running for the Senate, and my family, we’re still going through this process of praying and really considering it,” Walker said Sunday.
“People want me to decide right now, and I said, ‘Guys, I’m going to take my time because this is a very serious, serious thing. But I will tell you this: Herschel Walker believes in God, I believe in this country, I believe in the people, and I’m going to fight for the people of Georgia if I run, so just stay tuned. … It’s going to be exciting,” he added.
The former pro-football running back, a Georgia native, has repeatedly blasted assertions from progressive Democrats that the Peach state’s new Election Integrity Act is “racist.”
“Having an ID is a basic thing you gotta have,” the football star said earlier in a bid to defend amendments made Georgia’s election procedures — which the state said is only meant to raise the integrity and security of the polls.

Should he pursue a Senate run, Walker said his platform would revolve around the message of bringing America back together. “My priority most of all would be America. … I want to bring people back together.”
Walker is considered a top prospect to challenge Warnock. A poll released last month showed Trump favorite narrowly defeating the incumbent Democrat in a head-to-head contest.
Walker was reported as the top pick in a recent poll to face off with Democratic senator of Georgia, Senator Warnock. The survey found the football star “the Trump favorite narrowly defeating the incumbent Democrat in a head-to-head contest.”

Walker, who campaigned for former President Trump in the previous elections, said siding with the Republican chief executive cost him friends.
“In society today, if you’ve got a black friend, oh, jeez you’re like king,’’ Walker said. “But not one time has (Trump) asked me to speak for him. I don’t even think he knew I was going to speak this time. I’m the one that asked,’ he added.”
“Losing friends has been a big cost. I lost some friends, and that’s what’s so strange about it. How could in a country like America you disagree with someone that you now want to injure that person or you just don’t want to talk to them no more? Where did it get that you become a country like that?’’
When he spoke at the Republican National Convention (RNC) for Trump, the former Dallas Cowboys player said: “It hurt my soul to hear the terrible names that people called Donald,” he said in his RNC speech.
“The worst one is racist. I take it as a personal insult that people would think I’ve had a 37-year friendship with a racist. People that think that don’t know what they’re talking about. Growing up in the Deep South, I’ve seen racism up close. I know what it is, and it isn’t Donald Trump.”
On racism: Herschel Walker has called Donald Trump a friend for decades. He says coming from the South, he knows racism all too well. And Donald Trump is not racist.

Both former GOP incumbents David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler lost to Democrats Warnock and Jon Ossoff in a January 5 Senate runoff.
Former Senator Perdue already declined to challenge Warnock in 2022.
“After much prayer and reflection, Bonnie and I have decided that we will not enter the race for the United States Senate in Georgia in 2022. This is a personal decision, not a political one,” Perdue said in February.
“I am confident that whoever wins the Republican Primary next year will defeat the Democrat candidate in the general election for this seat, and I will do everything I can to make that happen.”
Warnock is currently embroiled in a controversy after he admitted to signing off false information about the Georgia voting law after it passed.
“Sen. Raphael G. Warnock, one of two new Democratic senators representing Georgia, signed an email sent out by the advocacy group 3.14 Action after the law passed, which claimed it ended no-excuse mail voting and restricted early voting on the weekends — also early proposals that did not become law,” The Washington Post said.

Meanwhile, Walker noted that the Democratic Party’s “extremism” drove him off the party.
“I love the Lord Jesus Christ and when I start seeing the Democratic Party, and I want to say ‘the other party,’ when I start seeing them not want to talk about God and removing God, and then I saw the BLM burning a cross and also burning the Holy Bible and burning a flag, and that’s not something I want to be a part of. I’m not that,” Walker said.
Last March, former President Trump encouraged Walker to run for the US Senate in 2022.
“Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the legendary Herschel Walker ran for the United States Senate in Georgia?” Trump opined on Twitter. “He would be unstoppable, just like he was when he played for the Georgia Bulldogs and in the NFL. He is also a GREAT person. Run Herschel run!”
