House GOP Leader McCarthy Blasts Pelosi For Forming New Committee To Investigate Trump’s Coronavirus Response

As a nation, we are
currently going through a horrible health pandemic with COVID-19, which has caused
the great economy in American history to go into a sudden economic crisis that
has the potential to plunge the United States into a Second Great Depression.

With death and
economic collapse on the minds of every American citizen, one would assume that
our elected politicians would put aside their partisan differences and focus
all their attention on coming together to help the lives of the American
people, right?

Given what we’ve seen
from the partisan hate-filled obstructionist Democrats since the day President
Trump was sworn into office, we know that assumption sadly isn’t going to
happen.

House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s latest plan to create a “special House committee” to investigate the Trump administration’s handling of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

McCarthy said it was
highly inappropriate to select Democrat Majority Whip James Clyburn of South
Carolina to run the committee.

Last month during the debate over the coronavirus stimulus bill, Clyburn followed the old Rahm Emanuel adage of “never let a crisis go to waste” when he told his Democrat colleagues that the coronavirus “is a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.”

That comments make Clyburn
a poor choice, according to McCarthy.

“I have a couple of concerns about this: One, who
she’s naming, Clyburn. It’s concerning to me because Congressman Clyburn is the
one who thought this crisis was an opportune time to restructure government,” McCarthy
told reporters, according to The Hill.

“That’s not what you should be doing,” McCarthy
said. “You should be taking care of the American public, keeping an economy
strong just as it was before and moving forward.”

Trump slammed Pelosi’s plan for another investigation during Thursday’s coronavirus task force briefing.

“I want to remind everyone here in our nation’s capital,
especially in Congress, that this is not the time for politics,” the president
said.

“Endless
partisan investigations — here we go again — have already done extraordinary
damage to our country in recent years. You see what happens. It’s witch hunt
after witch hunt after witch hunt.”

Many
on social media agreed with the President and McCarthy that the committee was
nothing more than the Democrats attempt to politicize a crisis.
