House Republicans Seek To Remove Ilhan Omar From Committees As Dems Press To Drop Taylor Greene
Republican lawmakers at the House of Representatives are moving to strip Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar of her committee assignments, the same way that Democrats are pushing to oust GOP Georgia Rep. Marjorie Greene from her panel assignments.
House GOP lawmakers are arguing that Omar’s record of anti-Semitic comments are “grounds for dismissal” as the Democrat-controlled chamber is set to tackle a measure this week that could possibly drop Rep. Greene from her assignment at the House Education and Labor Committee for her alleged support for the QAnon movement.
“A proposed GOP-backed amendment to that measure calls for Omar, frequently identified as a member of the ‘Squad’ of progressive Democrats, to be removed from her committee assignments ‘in light of conduct she has exhibited,’” Fox News reported. “Republicans argue that Omar has made anti-Semitic comments that are grounds for dismissal.”

Omar’s history of anti-Semitic comments
The Minnesota Democrat — a member of the liberal party’s progressive faction — has long been criticized for peddling anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and comments as the House leadership remains largely silent on her actions.
Omar triggered backlash earlier when she claimed that “Israel has hypnotized the world” and made a remark of how “it’s all about Benjamins baby” when she responded to House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy saying that he will take “action” against her over her usual criticism of Israel.
‘The Squad’ member also earlier suggested that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) was paying lobbyists and politicians to have a softer stance on Israel.
Anti-Semitic tropes have no place in the halls of Congress. It is dangerous for Democrat leadership to stay silent on this reckless language.

“Anti-Semitic tropes have no place in the halls of Congress. It is dangerous for Democrat leadership to stay silent on this reckless language,” Rep. McCarthy said then.
The high-ranking GOP lawmaker also noted that as much as there’s no place in Congress for anti-Semitism, he said there’s also “certainly not on the House Foreign Affairs Committee” where Omar used to be a member that time.
Meanwhile, the GOP-backed move to remove Rep. Omar from her committee assignments materialized after the strong scrutiny of Republican lawmaker Taylor Greene — with some calling to remove Greene from office entirely.
Aside from Omar, GOP lawmakers could also push for the removal of committee assignments of far-left Rep. Rashida Tlaib for her own history of anti-Semitic comments.
