Chase Smith, a high school student in Indiana, married his high school sweetheart, Sadie Mills, in a traditional wedding ceremony after a cancer diagnosis left him with only a few months to live.

Chase had been diagnosed with cancer at the age of 12. He was a nationally ranked swimmer and was always able to manage his symptoms.

However, in March 2020, he started to develop tumors that attacked his hips, lungs, and shoulders, which made swimming impossible. In April, more tumors were discovered in his brain after he started to experience strong pains in his eyes and temples.

At this time, doctors told him he likely had just three to five months to live.

Shortly after this grim diagnosis, the wedding was planned and organized in just four days with the help of Chase and Sadie’s family and friends.

The two teenagers, both 18-years-old, held the wedding ceremony in the bride’s parents’ driveway. This location is special to the couple because it is where Chase picked Sadie up in his car for their first date.

The newlyweds also said that their first kiss was in the same location.

The couple said that their faith in Jesus Christ is especially important. They pray together every morning and night and attend church regularly. Through their prayers, they hope that they can experience a miracle of Chase’s cancer going into remission. The two believe that God was present when they began to share feelings for each other.

Sadie is also a competitive swimmer in Indiana, and the two initially met at a swim meet. They exchanged phone numbers during this first meeting and began communicating back and forth, mostly through text messages.

Sadie claimed to be very impressed with his maturity for his age and his strong faith in God. Their personalities automatically clicked due to their shared interests and faith.

The couple said that they have not gone more than a day or two without seeing each other since they began dating about six months ago.

Chase’s mother, Kelly Smith, said that the situation is comparable to a fictional Hallmark love story.

Chase and Sadie plan to spend as much time together as they can and to enjoy each other’s company.

They also started a GoFundMe page for his cancer battle.
