Iowa’s Republican Governor Tells Biden Off: The Migrants Are ‘Not Our Problem’

Republican Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds sounded off in an interview that her state does not have the capacity to handle the surge of migrants coming to the United States illegally. She argued that the border is Joe Biden’s fault and he should be the one to fix it.

“We don’t have the facilities. We are not set up to do that,” Reynolds said during an interview with WHO radio on Thursday.

During the interview, Reynolds announced that she fought back against a demand from the Department of Health and Human Services to house hundreds of migrant children.

“This is not our problem; this is the president’s problem,” she added defiantly. “He is the one that opened the borders. He needs to be responsible for this, and he needs to stop it.”

Tens of thousands of unaccompanied migrant children are currently being housed in cage-like facilities and Democrat-controlled convention centers. Unprecedented numbers are expected to continuing breaching the border to enter the United States.

The Biden team reported last week that more than 170,000 migrants were apprehended by the Border Patrol in March. This is the highest monthly total in over a decade, even beating the Obama numbers.

When Iowa’s Health and Human Services Director Kelly Garcia was contacted by the federal HHS, she was asked to fill unoccupied residential child care beds with migrant children.

In response, Garcia said that “Iowa is not in a position to take unaccompanied minors at this time.”
