JD Vance Goes On CNN, Slams Tim Walz for Fabricating Military Record to Advance Political Agenda (VIDEO)
Senator JD Vance (R-OH) called out Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on CNN’s “State of the Union” for allegedly fabricating aspects of his military career to further his political ambitions.
In the interview, anchor Dana Bash highlighted Walz’s 24 years of service, noting that he stayed on after 9/11, going above and beyond what was expected. She asked Vance if he honored Walz’s service.
Vance was clear in his response, stating, “Of course, Dana, I honor his service, and I’ve never criticized what Tim Walz did while he was in the military. My issue is with his retirement decision and, more critically, his lies about his record.”
Vance went on to outline Walz’s alleged deceptions, noting, “This is a man who was caught on video claiming, ‘I carried a gun in war.’ He never went to war. He’s been on video, allowing others to call him an Afghanistan veteran, nodding along instead of correcting them and saying, ‘No, no, no, I served honorably, but I never went to a war zone.’”
Vance made it clear that his criticism wasn’t about Walz’s service itself but rather about the dishonesty surrounding it. “I’m not criticizing Tim Walz’s service. I’m criticizing the fact that he lied about his service for political gain. Dana, as you know, I served in the United States Marine Corps. I’m proud of my service, but I’ve never lied about what I did or overstated it to benefit in an election. That’s what Tim Walz did, and that’s what I’m criticizing. Yes, I do think it’s scandalous behavior.”
Vance didn’t mince words. He honed in on the fundamental issue: the exploitation of military service for personal political gain. In a time when truth and integrity should be the bedrock of public service, Vance’s revelations serve as a reminder that voters deserve leaders who are honest about their records—not ones who embellish the truth to climb the political ladder.
