Jeep Removes Bruce Springsteen Super Bowl Ad From YouTube Following Release Of DWI Report
Jeep has decided to remove its Super Bowl ad featuring Bruce Springsteen after a report from TMZ revealed that he was arrested in New Jersey for a DWI in November.
The ad with Springsteen was called ‘The Middle’ focused on Americans who are divided to find common ground and the video can still be found on YouTube from other users as well as Springsteen’s Instagram page.
Pitchfork reported, “It would be inappropriate for us to comment on the details of a matter we have only read about and we cannot substantiate,” a Jeep spokesperson said in a statement. “But it’s also right that we pause our Big Game commercial until the actual facts can be established. Its message of community and unity is as relevant as ever. As is the message that drinking and driving can never be condoned.”
As the news broke on Springsteen, ACTForAmerican found posted to Twitter, “I can’t believe @Jeep would feature a man facing charges for RECKLESS DRIVING and a DWI in their Super Bowl Ad! What were they thinking?! Bruce Springsteen could have killed someone!! He doesn’t deserve endorsement deals, ESPECIALLY from car companies!!”
