Joe Biden Fails To Copy Reagan During Coast Guard Commencement

President Joe Biden appeared to speak at the United States Coast Guard Academy’s 140th commencement in New London, Connecticut Wednesday.

Biden struggled to remember a commanders name he was honoring, and calling the graduates dull for not applauding after using a quote former President Ronald Reagan used in his address in 1977.

“I can only assume that you will enjoy educating your family about how the Coast Guard is, quote, the hard nucleus around the Navy forms in times of war,” the president stated receiving no response from the crowd.

“You are-. Why you’re a really dull class. Come on, man. Is the sun getting to you? I would think you’d have an opportunity when I say that about the Navy to clap. But being here together. Well I can decide being here together is a victory in and of itself,” Biden responded to the graduates after not getting the response he expected.

1977 Former President Ronald Reagan Gets Applause

My Coast Guard aides have been excellent. One of them taught me that, and I quote, “The Coast Guard is that hard nucleus about which the Navy forms in time of war.” Reagan said at his address in 1977.

The quote is what all Coast Guard cadets learn and Biden did not pitch it very well. Former Vice President Dick Cheyney also made the same speech in 2008 at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s commencement.

On Tuesday Biden made an appearance at the Ford plant promoting electric vehicles and where he ended up calling Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib “Rashid.”

Rashid- Tlaib. Where’s Rashid? I tell you what Rashid. I want to say to you that I admire your intellect. I admire your passion and I admire your concern for so many other people. And it’s my from my heart. I pray that your grandma and family are well. I promise I do everything to see that they are in the West Bank. You’re a fighter and god, thank you for being a fighter,” Biden stated.

I want to say something else upfront, I’m standing here because about 180 years ago when I first got elected to the Senate, gov. The United Auto Workers elected me! Look, the future of the auto industry is electric. There’s no turning back. And as Rory says, the American auto industry is at a crossroads,” Biden continued.

“The real question is whether we’ll lead or we’ll fall behind in the race to the future, whether we’ll build these vehicles and the batteries that go in them here in the United States or rely on other countries, whether the jobs to build these vehicles and batteries are good-paying union jobs with benefits, jobs that will sustain and grow the middle class. Right now, China is leading in this race. Make no bones about it. It’s a fact,” the president also shared.
