Kamala’s Predecessor Barbara Boxer, Posts Message After Assault And Theft In Oakland’s Jack London Square
Barbara Boxer, who occupied the California senate seat before Kamala Harris, was assaulted in Oakland’s Jack London Square. She tweeted on her personal account, while she was not seriously hurt, Boxer’s cell phone was stolen by an assailant who managed to escape.
Earlier today former Senator Barbara Boxer was assaulted in the Jack London Square neighborhood of Oakland. The assailant pushed her in the back, stole her cell phone and jumped in a waiting car. She is thankful that she was not seriously injured."

Boxer’s son Douglas Boxer verified the tweet’s authenticity.
Boxer, 80, was assaulted from behind. The suspect then ran inside a waiting car with her belongings. Boxer stated she is thankful she was not seriously injured or dead.
According to Fox KTVU, Boxer was not initially identified on a police crime alert issued after the incident. They are offering a cash reward for information that could help lead to an arrest.
“Oakland police are investigating the case. In addition, Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $2,000 in reward money for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact OPD’s Robbery Section at (510) 238-3326 or the Crime Stoppers TIP LINE at (510) 777- 8572.”
Boxer represented California in Congress from 1983 until 2017, first in the House before being elected to the Senate in 1992.
She opted out of re-election in 2005 and was succeeded by Kamala Harris.
