Kathy Griffin Oct. 2020 When Trump Had COVID: ‘Is He Dead Yet?’, Reveals She Has Lung Cancer
Kathy Griffin announced her diagnosis of lung cancer on social media Monday, saying she has never smoked and would begin treatment immediately.
Social media users were quick to respond to her announcement and wanted to point out how she treated President Trump in October 2020 when he was hospitalized for COVID-19.
“I’ve got to tell you guys something. I have cancer. I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed,” Griffin wrote on Twitter. “Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked!”
Her cancer, which is “contained to my left lung,” is in Stage 1 and her doctors are “very optimistic,” according to the 60-year-old.

“Hopefully no chemo or radiation after this and I should have normal function with my breathing. I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less. It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh and entertaining you, but I’m gonna be just fine,” the post continued.
Griffin discussed the diagnosis with ABC News’ Nightline on Monday night (12:35 a.m. ET on ABC), claiming she is “still a little bit in shock” after learning the news a few weeks ago, according to People.
During the interview, she will also inform co-anchor Juju Chang about her mental health and sobriety, as well as her family’s personal health struggles.
Griffin’s sister Joyce Griffin died of cancer in September 2017, and her mother Maggie Griffin died of dementia in March 2020.
“Karma??” one user wrote in response to Kathy Griffins post “Is he dead yet? I have shit to do. Thx.”

Conservative activist Scott Presler responded to Griffin’s lung cancer announcement, “Kathy, I’m sending you strength & positive energy. I hope you have a full recovery — you will get through this. While we disagree politically, we can all agree that we should be working together to find a cure to eradicate cancer. Be well.”
