Louisville BLM Chapter Calls For End Of Jail System, Defends Posting $100,000 Bail For Alleged Would-Be Mayoral Assassin

The Louisville Black Lives Matter chapter defended their bailing out of Quintez Brown, who allegedly tried to assassinate white Democrat mayoral candidate, Craig Greenberg.

The chapter’s Twitter was very active in defending themselves.

The group responded “Candidate*” to someone who criticized the chapter of defending “someone who just shot at a government employee.”

They claimed Brown “needed support.”

One Twitter user said, “We need to reform bail to disallow dangerous criminals, like this one, to be released. By our constitution requires bail unless someone is charged with murder. ” The BLM group fired back, “Applying pressure on the community work to address a huge issue affecting specific community members- Black, Brown and poor folks- is ill-served. You absolutely know the resources folks in this city are demanded to end poverty laws & reduce incarceration rates as well as crime 3.”

The Louisville activist group also called for an end of the entire jail system:

The mayoral candidate that Brown allegedly tried to murder released a statement on the incident. Greenberg said there must be consequences” when someone commits a violent crime.

As The Scoop reported Wednesday:

Rachel Droze, a reporter for Louisville local television station WHAS, said this morning, the Louisville BLM chapter was “heading to the bank to get a cashiers check to post Quintez Brown’s bail.”

Droze uploaded a video of cashiers checks being turned in at the clerk’s office to cover Brown’s bail.
