Megyn Kelly: Media Misrepresented Jan. 6 — Made To Look ‘Much Worse Than It Actually Was’
Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly blasted the media for distorting the January 6 chaos at the US Capitol in order to target supporters of former President Donald Trump.
The journalist and commentator said during her podcast’s Monday episode that the media committed “malpractice” in doing so, as she interviewed comedian Chrissie Mayr who was present during Trump’s rally before the riot.
In the “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Mayr said she was near the Capitol when it was stormed — and related how Trump’s rally was “nothing like what was portrayed by the media.”
“It was, like, mostly the most chill thing ever. It was like people had blankets and picnics and families and costumes,” Mayr told Kelly in describing her experience at that particular Trump rally.
Kelly then interjected, as accused the media of using the incident to stereotype all Trump supporters as those few who stormed the US Capitol.
“There is no question the media represented it as so much worse than it actually was,” Megyn Kelly said about the Capitol riot.

“There’s no question the media represented this as so much worse than it actually was,” Kelly said, as she went on to explain and criticize the acts of those who stormed the United States Capitol.
“We’ve all seen the video of people screaming in the face of cops and being totally disparaging and defecating on the floor of the US Capitol,” Kelly said. “And lawmakers were understandably afraid, you know? Not like [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)], ‘I need therapy for the rest of my life’ afraid. But I could understand it, and I didn’t like seeing it at all.”
“That’s our Capitol. Get the hell out of there. Have some respect,” Kelly said, referring to those who attacked the Capitol on January 6.
“Don’t threaten the cops, screw you. The MAGA crowd is supposed to be pro-cop, you know, you don’t get in their faces and say all that s***ty stuff which I heard with my own ears,” she added.
The commentator then slammed the media for using the Capitol Hill chaos to malign all Trump supporters as well as target prominent backers of former President Trump — including seeking to blacklist them from opportunities — such as book deals, among others.
“That doesn’t mean that’s what the entire crowd was there for, intended to do, so they got tarred by the actions of, like, some losers who went a different way. And then the media did what it does, which is any bad behavior gets attributed to the entire group of Trump supporters, not just at the Capitol, but in the country,” Kelly said.
“Remember? After that it was like, ‘you’re a MAGA supporter, you’re a Trump supporter, you’re on the banned list.’ It wasn’t just like ‘did you storm the Capitol?’ it was like if you voted for Trump, you’re banned. You’re not getting book deals, you’re not getting anything,” she said, further blasting the mainstream media.
But even before the January 6 chaos in Capitol Hill, Kelly noted that some prominent Democrats like self-proclaimed Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (New York) has already started calling for supporters of the former president — whom she calls as “Trump sycophants” — to be “marked” in case they tried to “downplay their complicity” in the future.
Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future? I foresee decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future

“Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future? I foresee a decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future,” Ocasio-Cortez said last year.
Aside from AOC, former presidential candidate Evan McMullin, who ran alongside Hillary Clinton and Trump in 2016, also suggested the idea of making a list of those supporting the former president’s call to investigate potential voter fraud.
We should keep and publish a list of everyone who assists Trump’s frivolous and dangerous attacks on the election. Name and shame forever.
