NBA Team Deletes Post Of Star Player Wearing ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ Gadsden Flag Jacket After Outrage Online
After several internet users noticed that he was wearing the popular “Don’t Tread on Me” design of the Gadsden Flag, the Boston Celtics’ official account immediately removed a tweet praising their star player.
Twitter users jumped quick to post screenshots of the deleted tweet showing point guard Kemba Walker with the design on his jacket.
“What’s going on with Kemba Walker man. Celtics deleted that QUICK,” one user stated responded to the jacket.

Jared Weiss who is a staff writer for The Athletic wrote to Twitter, “Kemba Walker was asked about wearing this jacket which has a flag associated with far-right politics. His answer made it pretty apparent he has no idea what it means, saying he liked the colors and the way it looked. No message meant by it.”

The historic Gadsden Flag has come to represent opposition to government authority, and it was adopted by the republican “Tea Party” campaign in response to former President Barack Obama’s government expansion.
Chris Pratt became a target in the media when he was wearing a “Gadsden Flag” T Shirt where they tried to describe it was a “white supremacist” shirt.

Walker responded to say that the jacket went with his sneakers.
Walked responded in a post-game interview that there was no reason he decided to wear the jacket.
“Was there any message? No,” said Walker. “I-I’m kinda confused about the question.”
“People just noted it on social media, they just thought it was a cool jacket, I didn’t know, the ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ thing on the back, I didn’t know if there was anything to it, or just a fashion statement?” the reporter replied.
“I have no idea. The colors looked good, it went with my sneakers, that’s all,” Walker said.
