New York “Downtown Karen” Tries To Lure An Asian Owner’s Dog Into Busy Street

An unknown woman harassed an Asian dog owner and tried to lure the dog “Boba” onto a busy street away from the owner. This was apparently because “Boba” was not leashed.

“She not only told my friend to “go back to your country” (he’s Asian American) but also as you can see in this video, tried to lure his dog into the FDR (Highway in NYC) !! He could have been hit! Seems to be the same woman who was harassing the skater in a previous post,” an Instagram user who is friends with the man in the video.

According to the friends post, the woman’s name has been found and police are handling the case.

“Have you never heard of a leash in the city?” asks a white lady identified only as “Karen” by an Asian guy. Before the camera turned on, the lady reportedly ordered him to “go back to his own country.”

The guy filming asks, “Which country should I go back to, Karen?”

The lady struggles many times to persuade his dog to run into a New York City highway.

“What kind of problem do you have, lady?” asks a bystander, who accuses the woman of making racist remarks and attempting to encourage the dog into the busy road.

Before trying unsuccessfully to persuade the dog to follow her into the street, the lady says, “They don’t put a leash on in your country?”

Unleashed dogs are not permitted in public areas in New York City, according to the Department of Sanitation.

The lady is seen chatting to a police officer through his vehicle window towards the ending of the video.

The friend of the dog owner also encountered the woman and wrote, “Posting so that all y’all can see this. After a little while I’ll delete bc this hatred is not what I’m about. But here it is. The same woman spewing hatred. The person she is speaking to is an Asian American woman, born and raised here. Embarrassed this is in our ‘hood.”
