New York School Tells Parents To Become ‘White Traitors’ And ‘White Abolitionists’
A New York City public school sent out a picture to parents that promoted the idea of becoming “white traitors” and “white abolitionists.”
The graphic was created by the Slow Factory Foundation, a nonprofit whose mission statement claims they are “building anti-racist community and growing climate-positive global movements.”
SCOOP: The principal of East Side Community School in New York sent white parents this "tool for action," which tells them they must become "white traitors" and then advocate for full "white abolition."

Christopher Rufo, a writer at City Journal, raised the alarm on the troubling message. He reported that East Side Community School’s principal in New York masterminded the graphic, which describes the “eight types of whiteness.” Each version of “whiteness” ranges from good to bad, according to the graphic. The worse being “white supremacist” and the best being “white abolitionist.”
“There is a regime of whiteness, and there are action-oriented white identities,” the graphic reads. “People who identify with whiteness are one of these. It’s about time we build an ethnography of whiteness, since white people have been the ones writing about and governing others.”
According to a document that corresponds to the graphic, “white supremacists,” “white voyeurs,” and “white privileged” are among the worse “types” of “whiteness.” They comprise of the red zone. White supremacists are reportedly people who “preserves, names, and values white superiority.”
A “white voyeur,” the document continues, is someone who seeks to control “the consumption and appropriation of non-whiteness.” An example would be a white person listening to rap music. They would be “consuming black culture without the burden of blackness.”
In the yellow zone are the “white benefits” and the “white confessionals.” They are described to be sympathetic to “black issues,” but only privately. The graphic claims that minorities can have “white benefit” as well. “White confessionals” are people who allegedly seek the approval of minorities.
The green zone of the graphic includes “white critical,” “white traitor,” and “white abolitionist.” These groups play a large part in “destroying whiteness.” The three “identities” play a role in subverting “white authority and tell the truth at whatever cost.”
Barnor Hesse, the creator of the graphic, is an associate professor at Northwestern University. A search for the educator on Rate My Professors did not yield any results. Student reviews on his teaching ability are currently unknown or possibly hidden.
