‘Not Capable Of Being Commander-In-Chief’: GOP Reps Introduce Articles Of Impeachment Against Biden

On Tuesday, Ohio Representative Bob Gibbs filed three articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, citing his handling of Afghanistan, immigration, and the now-defunct federal eviction moratorium.

“I take this seriously. I don’t think it’s haphazard. I’m not trying to get media attention for myself,” Gibbs said in an interview with The Washington Examiner.

The lawmaker argued that Biden has caused disaster to the country in the short span of his presidency.

“He’s done so much damage to this country in less than nine months, which is really scary,” Gibbs said.

“He’s not capable of being commander-in-chief, and that’s obvious by his actions since Day One when he took the presidency back in January.”

The Republican representative then noted that this impeachment move could be a deterrent to the Biden administration from further making damaging decisions to the country.

“Maybe something like this makes the White House think twice before they do some of this nonsense,” Gibbs added.

The lawmaker introduced the articles of impeachment with fellow GOP Reps. Andy Biggs (Arizona), Brian Babin (Texas), and Randy Weber (Texas) as co-sponsors.

Gibbs said the lawmakers began work on the resolution even before the chaotic pullout of US troops in Afghanistan last month — focusing on Biden’s failed handling of the escalating border crisis and the federal eviction moratorium.

The border crisis has received renewed attention within the past week as thousands of illegal immigrants flock Del Rio, Texas. Federal agents are reportedly holding 10,503 individuals at an overpass in the southwestern city in Texas, overwhelming resources and posing a serious humanitarian crisis.

Several lawmakers have earlier blasted Biden’s failed immigration policy for triggering the continuing wave of illegal aliens heading towards the US-Mexico border.

Senator Ted Cruz, for one, then blasted the still ongoing border crisis calling it a “man-made disaster” that was the “result of political decisions.”

On Monday, 26 GOP senators co-signed a letter to Biden, calling on the president to crack down on illegal immigration — urging him to put a stop to the “national security crisis created by eight months of unenforced borders.”

Putting Biden admin “on notice”

The eviction moratorium implemented by Biden was earlier halted by the Supreme Court ruling that in the case, it is “virtually certain” that property owners who argued that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has exceeded its legal authority would win. The Biden administration expanded it after previously claiming that doing so was unconstitutional.

Biden also led the disastrous withdrawal of US presence in Afghanistan potentially leaving hundreds of Americans in the now terrorist-controlled domain, along with Afghan allies who aided American troops in its two-decade war in the country.

The messy and rushed pullout also caused the death of 13 US servicemen after a suicide bomber detonated a bomb near the Kabul airport where evacuation that time were ongoing.

Related to this, the Pentagon recently admitted to killing an Afghan aid worker, and nine members of his family, including seven children by “mistake” which the Biden administration said earlier was a drone strike against the ISIS-K terror group responsible for the terror attack.

With Democrats in control of the House, Gibbs acknowledged that the articles of impeachment are unlikely to pass —  although he noted that this could serve as a warning to the Biden administration that their failed actions are noted.

“Obviously, it’s not going to go anywhere with Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi,” Gibbs told the Examiner. “It shows that there are some Republicans that think that this president needs to be impeached, he needs to be removed from office one way or another.”

“At some point, they’re gonna be held accountable for their actions, and this is kind of putting them on notice,” the Ohio lawmaker said.
