Obama’s Super Spreader Party Invitees On Hold, Obama Forced To Make Major Changes After Heavy Criticism

Following widespread criticism, former President Barack Obama has chosen to cancel plans for a large 60th birthday party at the last minute.

The Obamas have chosen to cut down the celebration to only family and close friends, citing the spread of the Delta variant.

When Obama announced the postponement, “the party plans had been months in the making and many invitees had already arrived on Martha’s Vineyard” according to The New York Times.

According to Hannah Hankins, the former president’s spokeswoman, “Due to the new spread of the Delta variant over the past week, the president and Mrs. Obama have decided to significantly scale back the event to include only family and close friends. President Obama is appreciative of others sending their birthday wishes from afar and looks forward to seeing people soon.”

Barack Obama didn’t scale back his birthday party because he is concerned about Covid. He scaled back his birthday party because he got called out for his hypocrisy,” Lance Gooden a Texas congressman wrote.

Before it was canceled, the party was expected to draw hundreds of former Obama administration officials and Hollywood elites. George Clooney, Steven Spielberg, and Oprah Winfrey, according to the New York Post, are scheduled to attend.

Prior to the event, party planners reportedly followed public health standards. The Obamas had requested that attendees get vaccinated before attending the party, which was to be hosted outdoors on the property. A “COVID coordinator” was even supposed to be stationed on the grounds to verify that procedures were followed.

However, as the Delta variant’s circulation has grown in recent weeks, public health officials have reversed masking recommendations for vaccinated people and issued warnings against mass gatherings. The public picture of a huge party packed with celebrities, Democratic contributors, and left-wing politicians didn’t seem so nice all of a sudden.

“They’ve been concerned about the virus from the beginning, asking invited guests if they had been vaccinated, requesting that they get a test proximate to the event, but when this was planned, the situation was quite different. So they responded to the changing circumstances,” David Axelrod, a former top Obama adviser, said, according to the Times.

The Obamas and their supporters claim that the party’s plans were changed due to health concerns. It should be emphasized, however, that plans were not formally changed until after the massive backlash.
