(Opinion): Now Is Not The Time To Debate Afghanistan, It Is Time To Hold Biden Accountable For His Poorly Executed Withdrawal

Today many Americans were awakened to the news of 13 service members killed, including 12 marines, in a Suicide bombing outside of the Kabul airport in Afghanistan. For over a week now the situation on the ground in Afghanistan has been quickly deteriorating. The images that we’ve all seen are nothing short of horrifying and it seems there is no end in sight.

Joe Biden finally came out of hiding today for a brief statement and took a few questions. In which he took one question from Peter Doocy of Fox News on whether or not he took any responsibility for what has happened. Biden responded that he took responsibility however he quickly turned to his talking points.

Now let’s take a deep dive into Biden’s talking points.

Biden’s first talking point is to blame Trump for his withdrawal. He does this of course without mentioning that he completely scrapped Trump’s withdrawal plan.

According to documents obtained by the National Pulse, the Biden administration halted plans that were put in place by the Trump administration that were aimed at ensuring a safe exit from Afghanistan.

The document is dated June 11, 2021, though The National Pulse understands the decision to pause the program may have come as early as February, both undermining the original Trump-era date for the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, and certainly giving the Taliban time to threaten American assets and lives on the run up to Joe Biden’s September 11th date of withdrawal.

The subject line reads: “(SBU) Contingency and Crisis Response Bureau,” and the body of the document recommends:

“That you direct the discontinuation of the establishment, and termination of, the Contingency and Crisis Response Bureau (CCR), and direct a further review of certain associated Department requirements and capabilities.”

It goes on:

“That you direct the discontinuation of the establishment, and termination of, CCR, consistent with the applicable legal requirements, necessary stakeholder engagement, and any applicable changes to the Foreign Affairs Manual and other requirements.”

The document reveals the recommendations were approved on June 11th 2021.

Biden then goes on to the next talking point, which is to essentially say that it was time to come home from Afghanistan. This point many on the right will actually agree with and some others on the right will disagree. What I want patriotic Americans to understand is that both of these talking points are a deflection from his (near-total) responsibility for this poorly executed withdrawal. Biden is the Commander-in-Chief of the military and is completely responsible for leaving behind American citizens and our allies and leaving military equipment that will fall in the hands of the Taliban and other enemies of America.

I don’t care whether you are Rand Paul, someone opposed to the war in Afghanistan, or Dan Crenshaw, someone very much for military presence in Afghanistan, now is not the time to be debating this, right now there should be a laser focus on Biden’s poor execution of HIS withdrawal. Don’t let him or anyone else blame this on Trump because Biden scrapped Trump’s plan. Biden and the Democrats want Americans to be sidetracked and blaming anything other than who is truly at fault: Joe Biden. Joe Biden jeopardized the lives of thousands of Americans due to his inability to lead.
