Pence Shreds Biden Over Afghanistan Insurrection And Who The Biden Administration Dishonored

Former Vice President Mike Pence slammed President Joe Biden over the recent collapse of Afghanistan to Taliban forces, saying that the Democrat chief executive is responsible for dishonoring the memories of “heroic Americans.”

The former VP also described the Afghanistan issue as a “dark hour” in US history.

“The Biden Administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan dishonors the memory of those heroic Americans who gave the last full measure of devotion and all who bravely served there defending freedom these past 20 years,” Pence wrote on Sunday.

“God Bless Our Troops & Our Allies in this Dark Hour,” the former vice president of Donald Trump  added.

On Monday, however, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan maintained that Biden “stands by” his decision to publicly withdraw from Afghanistan, telling ABC’s “Good Morning America,” that the US government is startled by the Taliban’s rapid takeover of Kabul.

The US intelligence community under Biden concluded last week that the US-backed Afghanistan government could collapse to the Taliban as soon as six months following America’s move to withdraw its military from the country — which some say is an end to the US’ longest war, but others regard as a move to abandon Afghanistan.

“The president did not think it was inevitable that the Taliban were going to take control of Afghanistan,” Sullivan said. “He thought the Afghan national security forces could step up and fight because we spent 20 years, tens of billions of dollars, training them, giving them the best equipment, giving them support of US forces for 20 years.”

In July,  Biden claimed the takeover after the US withdrew its forces there was “not inevitable.”

“The likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely,” Biden said then.

Reports said Biden also allegedly “overruled his top military commanders” when he made up his mind to publicly withdraw US forces in Afghanistan, according to a report made by the Wall Street Journal.

“[Biden] overruled his top military commanders: Gen. Frank McKenzie, the commander of US forces in the Middle East; Gen. Austin Scott Miller, who led NATO forces in Afghanistan; and Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Citing the risks of removing American forces to Afghan security and the U.S. Embassy, they recommended that the US keep 2,500 troops in Afghanistan while stepping up diplomacy to try to cement a peace agreement,” the report wrote.

The Biden administration has since attempted to blame the former Trump administration for the debacle that took place in Afghanistan in a matter of weeks — but Trump has put the blame squarely on Biden as he ramped up his criticism of Biden’s foreign policy.

“Joe Biden gets it wrong every time on foreign policy, and many other issues,” the former Republican president said. “Everyone knew he couldn’t handle the pressure. Even Obama’s Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, said as much. He ran out of Afghanistan instead of following the plan our Administration left for him — a plan that protected our people and our property, and ensured the Taliban would never dream of taking our Embassy or providing a base for new attacks against America. The withdrawal would be guided by facts on the ground.”

“The Taliban no longer has fear or respect for America, or America’s power. What a disgrace it will be when the Taliban raises their flag over America’s Embassy in Kabul. This is complete failure through weakness, incompetence, and total strategic incoherence,” Trump added.

Van Drew calls for Biden to step down

Meanwhile, adding to the growing calls for Biden’s resignation, Rep. Van Drew (New Jersey) also said Biden should step down amid the Taliban takeover of Kabul.

“My God, it is one of the darkest, most embarrassing days we’ve had in our country, and it’s a tremendous embarrassment for the Biden administration,” Van Drew commented

“But with this administration it is failure after failure after failure. Honest to God, I cannot believe I’m saying this, it literally is time for this president to resign. It is time for this vice president to resign. It is time for the Senate president and Speaker to resign,” he added.

“We need new people, even new Democrats, hopefully that are moderates. We can’t keep doing this.”
