Planned Parenthood Sold Body Parts And Blood Samples For Around $25k, Unsealed Docs Show

Recently
unsealed documents reveal that Planned
Parenthood billed StemExpress, the tissue procurement company, just
under $25,000 for the illegal sale of aborted baby body parts. The documents reportedly
show that Planned Parenthood violated a federal
law that expressly forbids receiving compensation for the exchange of fetal
body parts.

The invoices from 2012 were unsealed as the result of the investigative work done by pro-life journalist David Daleiden.  Three invoices from Planned Parenthood to StemExpress show Planned Parenthood charged amounts of $5,860, $11,365, and $7,715 respectively for three orders of baby body parts.  Federal law allows for the reimbursement of transportation and other associated costs for distributing fetal tissue but specifically forbids reimbursement for the body parts themselves.

Planned Parenthood argued that the payments related to time spent by staff and transportation, but the invoices mentioned neither of these.  Rather, they specifically assigned fees for different body parts or products of conception” (POC) “determined in the clinic to be usable.”

The invoices in question were first published as part of a House committee’s investigation in 2016 with the names of StemExpress and Planned Parenthood redacted.

Federal
Judge William Orrick recently ordered those records unsealed without
redactions.

Daleiden
said, “Planned Parenthood’s contracts and
invoices are proof positive that their payments were tied solely to the
marketability of aborted baby body parts.”

When questioned about this, the organization referred Fox News to a previous statement: “Planned Parenthood has never, and would never sell fetal tissue, and any claim otherwise is absurd … Planned Parenthood has never and would never sell fetal tissue. … Anti-abortion operatives engaged in deliberate fraud to deceive the public, and it has been shown over and over again that their claims are false.”

Former Planned Parenthood director Abby
Johnson said Daleiden’s accusations mirror those of what she experienced during
her time with Planned Parenthood.
Johnson said her clinic in Texas had quotas and sought to “turn every
client interaction into a revenue-generating visit.”

Johnson
added, “This is literally what I have been saying for years. They are charging.
They have just been line item-ing it under different wording…transport,
handling, processing, etc… when the process for handling the POC after
an abortion isn’t any different… You
either throw it in a biohazard bag that stays in the clinic or a Styrofoam
container that goes to the procurement company.”

Democrats
have used the full power of their offices to attempt to discredit Daleiden’s
accusations against Planned Parenthood.
Daleiden currently faces criminal charges initiated by Sen. Kamala Harris,
D-Calif., when she served as California’s attorney general.

Five out of the seven charges against Daleiden involve an anti-eavesdropping law; these 5 charges were later thrown out by a judge who ruled there was an absence of probable cause establishing that these conversations were ‘confidential communications’ as defined by the statute.

Daleiden told Fox News that the federal law that denies selling aborted fetal organs and tissues was “enacted to prevent monetary incentives to turn children in the womb into a commodity.”
