Police Report Claims 14-Year-Old Son Of Pizza Shop Employee Shoots Would-Be Robber In Face
The son of a female pizza shop employee, according to Philadelphia police, shot a robber in the face in Spring Garden on Thursday night. It happened just before 10 p.m. at the Bold Pizza store on the corner of 15th and Spring Garden Streets.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., three guys attempted to rob the CVS Pharmacy located at 490 North Broad Street, according to police. They fled with no money in their possession.
A short time later, the police received a call reporting a robbery at the pizza restaurant on the corner. Employees on the outside of the building told police that one of the suspects entered the store. When he attempted to take money from the cash register, the female employee courageously fought back.
Chief Inspector Scott Small said, “the cash register was open, there was money on the floor and there was also some broken glass inside the store.”
As the employee and perpetrator began fighting, the employee’s 14-year-old son grabbed a firearm from under the counter and fired at the suspect, hitting him in the face. Previous false media coverage alleged the employee fired the gun. The firearm was legally owned by the 14-year-old’s father.
Officers were able to track down the guy to the Spring Garden metro subway station due to a blood trail. He was taken to Jefferson Hospital in critical condition.
In a statement, Chief Inspector Small said, “when police went down to that location, they located a shooting victim, a 33-year-old male shot in his face.”
The search for the other two suspects is still ongoing, according to authorities.
