Poll: Most Arizona Republicans Say Election Audit Will Show Trump Won

Majority of Republicans in Arizona think that a partisan election audit in Arizona will indicate that former President Donald Trump won the state’s 11 Electoral College votes rather than now-President Joe Biden, according to a recent poll.

A new OH Predictive Insights survey found that 62% of Arizona Republicans said after the GOP audit is finished, Trump will earn more votes in the state. Another 21% of Republicans believe Biden’s victory will stand, while the remaining 16% are undecided.

The survey shows how fraud claims in the 2020 election — mostly saying irregularities and electoral misconduct swung the election to Biden in critical swing states like Arizona  — have influenced Arizona Republicans.

The survey noted that 61% of Republicans agreed with the statement that says “evidence has been uncovered which shows that the election was stolen from President Trump in a number of states that the media and election officials have called for Joe Biden.”

Meanwhile, another 55% said they have a positive view of the election audit, which was prompted by allegations of fraud and election misconduct.

President Biden emerged as the winner in Arizona during the 2020 election — leading former President Trump by over 10,000 votes — also the first time that a Democrat won Arizona since 1996.

Nonetheless, GOP lawmakers in Arizona launched an audit in the state amid persisting election fraud allegations, although the process has been dogged by claims of alleged unwillingness to turn over documents from both sides.

Republicans predicted the audit would be done by May earlier this year, but the timetable has already slid, and there is no clear end date for the process.

The results from Maricopa County, Arizona’s largest county and home to Phoenix, are the focus of the audit. In November, Biden won the area by more than two percentage points.

The head of the organization conducting the forensic audit of Maricopa County’s November 2020 election results told Arizona State Senate President Karen Fann last week that the audit found “no clear record” of 74,243 mail-in ballots being sent in the 2020 election.

“We have 74,243 mail-in ballots where there is no clear record of them being sent. Just to be clear, here in the state of Arizona there is E.V. 32s and E.V. 33s. E.V. 32s are supposed to give a record of when a mail-in ballot is sent. E.V. 33 is supposed to give a record of when the mail in ballot is received,” Doug Logan, CEO of CyberNinjas, testified at the hearing.

Republicans have rallied around the procedure, with Republican lawmakers from other states indicating that they may conduct similar audits in the future.

“The irregularities revealed at the hearing today amount to hundreds of thousands of votes or, many times what is necessary for us to have won,” former President Trump said in a statement after a briefing in Arizona on Thursday about the audit.

“There was no victory here, or in any other of the Swing States either,” he added.

The OH Predictive Insights survey was conducted among 863 registered Arizona voters from July 6 to 11 with a margin of error of 3.3 percentage points.
