President Trump Ignores Pelosi’s Wishes To Keep Country On Strict Lockdown

President Trump is ignoring the urging of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to keep the entire United States on coronavirus lockdown until well past the month of May.

The President announced federal guidelines last Thursday that put the onus on governors of making decisions about reopening their states’ economies.

The White House unveiled a detailed three-phase “Opening Up America Again” plan for state and local governments to follow.

Despite the Administration’s new guidelines, Speaker Pelosi said she is not considering allowing the House of Representatives to return to session until at least May 4, and she urged President Trump to keep the rest of the country under economic lockdown even longer.

In an interview with Politico, the Speaker called on Trump’s advisors to “rein in the president.” She said, “I would hope that the scientific community would say, ‘You can’t do this, it is only going to make matters worse if you go out too soon.”’

When asked what she thought of the President’s daily briefings, Pelosi said she didn’t watch them because she didn’t have the time. “I don’t watch them,” answered the Speaker. “I sometimes see inadvertently or just by accident some of the news reporting on it… But I just don’t have time for that. I am a busy person. I have a day job, and it’s not to watch the president contradict himself on TV.”

But Pelosi has been involved in what Politico called a “media tour de force of her own” over the past few weeks. She has appeared at least on one or more cable news shows per day in addition to multiple radio and print interviews accusing Trump of ignoring the problem.  Pelosi even had time to go on late-night TV and show off her expensive ice cream collection.

To add to her hypocrisy, Pelosi seems to have forgotten she encouraged tourists to visit San Francisco’s Chinatown back in late February.

The oh-so-busy Pelosi also has had time to tout former Vice President Joe Biden as the right choice for Democrats to beat President Trump. She praised Biden, saying, “I think he’s fabulous. He’s a person of great values, great patriotism … He knows the role of government — that we don’t want more than we want or than we need, but we need to have as much as required to do the job and meet the needs of the American people … I think he’ll be a great nominee and an even greater President of the United States.”
