Promises Made, Promises Kept: Trump Signs Historic USMCA Trade Deal (VIDEO)

President Trump has officially taken another step toward making the U.S. economy the greatest it has ever been by signing the historic USMCA trade agreement.

USMCA officially ends NAFTA, also known as the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement.

“Everybody said this was a deal that could not be done. Too complicated, too big, couldn’t be done. We got it done,” President Trump said about the United States Mexico Canada Agreement.

The USMCA is expected to generate over 50,000 automobile industry jobs as well as open new markets for American wheat, poultry, and eggs, among other products.

“The USMCA is the largest, fairest, most balanced in modern trade agreement ever achieved. There’s ever been anything like it,” said the President.

The USMCA includes important provisions that critically protect digital assets and intellectual property.

“The USMCA contains critical protections for intellectual property, including trade secrets, digital services, and financial services. It establishes new standards and safeguards protecting the environment and currency stability, something that has been on my mind for a lot of years, long before I got here,” announced an excited President Trump.

Vice President Mike Pence echoed President Trump’s optimistic statements by bringing up the fact that unemployment is at a 50-year low and that wages have steadily increased.

The American economy is booming. As you just said, more than seven million jobs created unemployment at a 50 year low. And I know what means most to you is that wages are rising across the board, but they’re rising most rapidly for hard-working blue-collar Americans.  Mr. President, today you’ll sign the largest trade deal in American history,” said Vice President Pence.

President Trump concluded his speech by thanking everyone who was involved in the historic drafting and passing of the USMCA.

I think we would all agree that the people that are by far the most important with us today happened to be standing right behind me.  They’re the ones. They’re the workers. They’re the workers, and they’re the ones that are going to benefit most by what we’re doing. So thank you very much for being here.”
