Psaki Says Gun Control A ‘Priority’ To Biden And Won’t Rule Out Using Executive Orders
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said to reporters Tuesday that gun control is a ‘priority’ to Biden on personal level and ‘not afraid of standing up’ to the National Rifle Association.
Psaki was asked by a reporter, What is your timetable for action on what the president calls for common sense measures? And what’s the realistic hope that you have this will pass both houses?”
“Well, we haven’t proposed a package at this point,” Psaki responded. “So it’s hard for me to make a prediction about its likelihood of passing. But I will say that the president is somebody throughout his career who has advocated for smart gun safety measures. He has not afraid of standing up to the NRA. He’s done it multiple times and won on background checks and a range of issues. And it is a priority to him on a personal level, but I don’t have a prediction for you, or preview for you on a timeline of a package, and certainly not what it will look like and how it goes through Congress.”

Another reporter asked Psaki, “Does the president still plan to take executive action on gun control?”
Psaki answered, “The president has a range of actions at his disposal. He hasn’t ruled out either of those options.”
Full clip here at C-SPAN at 00:25:41 and the question came after Biden’s call to Congress last week where he said, “I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets,” Biden said in a statement issued by the White House.”
The NRA has shared their response to Biden’s plan on gun control measures, “It will be up to these millions of law-abiding gun owners, and millions of NRA members, to make their voices heard in opposition to any infringement upon their constitutional rights.
Press secretary Psaki has shared to twitter her support for ‘mandatory gun-buyback program‘ when in 2019 Beto O’Rourke said, “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47”
Thank you @BetoORourke take guns. Please. No one needs an assault weapon. This is a crisis.
